Nightmare at 13 Feet

TSA finds anti-aircraft ammunition in bag, evacuates luggage room of Hawaiian airport… The team found a .50-caliber round of anti-aircraft ammunition inside a thermos. [More]

Somebody dig up something from Pearl Harbor? Does it look like somebody wanted an expended souveneir and wrongly figured the metal thermos would shield it from prying overreactors?

Oh, and for those wondering, that’s HNL’s elevation.

  1. My father in law was a retired USAF “full bird” Colonel with service in ww2, Korea and Viet Nam. When he was buried at Arlington, part of the service was a firing party. My 4 year old son scrounged some of the expended blank cartridge cases off of the ground and pocketed them.

We had some fun the next day getting TSA to allow him to board the plane with them in his pocket.
