Just as many suspected, Trump is a “staunch supporter of the Second Amendment”. But it’s the same “Second Amendment” supported by Biden, Schumer, both Clintons, Gore, and Kerry. IOW, it isn’t the Second Amendment enshrined in the first 10 amendments to the Constitution of the United States.
And just to underscore another point, Miller’s appeal to SCOTUS that his sawed off shotgun was protected under OUR Second Amendment was denied because no one had provided evidence before the court that such an implement was a weapon of war. US v Miller inferred that weapons of war are precisely what the Second Amendment protects. Historians, the honest ones anyway, will tell you that just about anything that can be used to harm another human being has been, at some time, used as a weapon of war. IOW, all weapons, particularly those capable of being carried, are protected.
In response to the third point in the referenced article, the Federal government has no power over firearms.
It’s not listed in the Constitution, therefore it doesn’t exist.
The Second Amendment states it clearly, “…Shall not be infringed.”
That is pointed directly at the Federal Government and (by McDonald incorporating the Second Amendment via the 14th Amendment), pointed directly at the States also.
