So California requires one and bans the other… Is this where some idiot “progressive” would say “Yeah, but cars don’t kill people”?

15 seconds on Google, and I learned:
– California has, on average, about 3,700 vehicular deaths per year.
– In 2022, the last year with full statistics, California had some 3,484 firearm-related deaths, 54% of which were suicides and 42% homicides (the other 4% I’m assuming were “accidents”?) — or about 1,480-ish homicides.
Even counting suicides (which if firearms were not available, would still happen by other means), it seems cars kill MORE Californians than firearms.
Simply based on that, I would think prohibiting automobile mufflers and making engine noise more audible, as a warning, would save more lives than removing the prohibition on firearm silencers could reasonably be claimed would end.
That is, if saving lives were the California Legislature’s real goal….
To the “cars weren’t designed for killing people” NPCs, I always make the point that cars kill more people UNINTENTIONALLY than firearms do intentionally PLUS unintentionally.
