  1. German politics have become so INSANE that average Germans no longer understand what is going on in Dtl!

When I lived there (the 90’s, before the horrific transition from the DM to just after the adoption of the Euro) EVERYTHING was under the mantle of “Alles muss in Ordnung sein!”. Germany cops had ZERO sense of humor while on duty, and while there was indeed a ‘political understanding’ of just how far the cops could go on certain ‘accepted crimes’ (overwhelmingly involving Nigerians and Iranians), all in all, things got done and the trains really DID run on time.

Such is no longer the case as I understand it. I try to stay abreast of things there, though it is difficult to do: ‘journalists’ for conservative media have to walk on egg shells on a regular basis, so it takes a LOT of perusing and digging to get to the ‘nut’ of many issues.

The election of the conservative LADY in Italy is I would argue, a sign post that the SPD, CDU, and most of all the Greens had best take note: politically, both in America and in Europe, this is the 1930’s politically speaking (domestics), and those fine folks who’ve lived by the ‘status quo’ of decades long politics in both realms had best pull their heads out and take note of the sky; the weather is changing, and NOT in their favor.
