Survey SAYS…

  1. The devil, as always, is in the details.

How were those survey questions worded? Was “gun violence prevention policies” spelled out with actual proposals or was it left vague and up to the respondent’s imagination, including how any proposals would be enforced? Did the survey just ask their political affiliations in broad terms or did they confirm it by asking who they voted for in 2024? What was the ratio of survey requests to respondents – i.e. was it only a tiny, vocal group that responded? How were the potential subjects selected from the population at large?

And finally, were any “outlier” responses excluded from the respondent pool? And if so, what criteria were used to exclude them?

Methodology matters, and if they won’t answer ALL of these questions (and more; this is just off the top of my head), then the survey is statistically meaningless.
