Blast from the Past

From George Gramlich, Editor of the Sangre de Cristo Sentinel, via email:

David

I don’t know if you remember but Mike’s last Smuggler’s episode was him going up to NY or Conn with a bunch of 30 rounders and give them out at a rally. Well, he got too sick to do that and he called me up (or email, I can’t remember) and asked me if I had any options.

This was before July 4 so I said mail them to me and we will give them out at our 2nd Amendment section before the parade (with a little speech about where they came from. Everybody remembered when he marched with us a few years before). That give away was Mike’s last official action. To make the mags special, I asked him to write something on each one and he did.

Each mag read, first line, “MBV III” with the 2nd line saying, “Smuggler Prod. Co.”. In white magic marker.

I grabbed three that day. I have one at the office and one in my man cave but just found the third one yesterday. I had forgotten about it.

I want it to go to somebody who would value it.

Though you might want it. If so, please send your USPS address and I will ship it out shortly.

The wife just came in with the mail. Guess what I got:

Thanks, George! You’re the best!

Another Roadside Attraction

From friend George Gramlich, publisher and editor of the Sangre de Cristo Sentinel:

Literally hundreds of people have stopped and took their picture in front of the Trump Shrine in the last month. Biggest tourist attraction in town.

We’ve talked about this unique, freedom-promoting paper plenty of times before, here and at the old place. Here’s their “mission statement”:

A newspaper to serve the good people of this county, surrounding counties and our neighboring communities located along the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. A newspaper with a conservative voice. A newspaper with “A DIFFERENT VIEW FROM THE SAME MOUNTAINS” than what is available now. A newspaper for all liberty and freedom loving citizens and patriots. We believe this is a much needed “CHOICE” in these beautiful, mostly rural, areas of Colorado. The Sentinel (also knows as a Sentry) is a Guardian. He watches over, protects, informs and warns us and others of danger. There are many current dangers to our liberties, freedoms and rights. So, first, we need to be informed, then we need to stand up for and be prepared to protect these liberties, freedoms and rights. Lastly, we need to remain vigilant. This newspaper will be our Sentinel and help us all do that.

So did Mike, who spoke at the Independence Day parade in Westcliffe.

Paper Trail

A newspaper feud at the foot of the Sangre de Cristo mountains has veered toward violence with editors armed, lawsuits flying, and threats from riled-up residents forcing the closure of a 140-year-old Main Street newsroom for safety. [More]

With a sensationalistic lede like this, no wonder George Gramlich didn’t want to give the “real reporter” the time of day. There’s nothing he c0uld have said that wouldn’t have been used against him out of context.

Fighting Like Democrats

This Custer County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) meeting on May 1st started out “normal” (whatever that is here in Happy Valley) but when the subject of an upcoming BOCC Election Integrity Forum came up at the end, some of our left leaning locals went full victim outrage Stage 10 Soy Boy trying to suppress free speech as they didn’t agree with the meeting’s subject. (Just like the libs do on our college campuses around the country.) [More]

The Sangre de Cristo Sentinel continues tobe the unyielding watchdog a free press was meant to be.

How many hometown papers can say that? Can yours?

Pockets of Resistance

Despite the influx of left leaning migrants to Happy Valley the last decade or so, Custer County is still solid red with a big time Republican turnout in Tuesday’s Colorado primary election. The Custer County Republican vote turnout was FOUR TIMES higher than the Democrat turnout with 1,957 voting Republican and only 477 voting Democrat. (Note results are unofficial as of this date.) [More]

We’ve talked before, for years, about the Sangre de Cristo Sentinel, how even in a Democrat state like Colorado there are communities where the citizens will not surrender their heritage and their rights, and how important it is to have a strong voice countering media lies with the truth.

Publisher George Gramlich has set the template that other communities could follow. Here’s how those with a stake in local happenings can keep up, hard copy or online.

Home on Derange

The Sentinel’s staff, however, are still furious. They say that being called “Nazis” and “fascists” helped set the tone for their relationship with the ranch. [More]

Pointing out the truth is hardly a furious reaction. That reaction is coming entirely from the other side.

I promote The Sangre de Cristo Sentinel all the time, and if the Tenacious Unicornholers want to do their ranching thing and protect their privacy with rifles, I’ll be happy to leave them unmolested (unlike what their Antifa heroes do to those they target). Just be advised if you want to join them, you’ll first need to clear it with Dr. Cornwallis.
