And a Little Child Shall Lead Them?

The Lansing School District announced that the child will face “disciplinary action” for his bravery. Why? Because the district’s beloved “zero tolerance” policy doesn’t distinguish between a kid wielding a gun and a kid taking it away to save lives. [More]

It’s statement says reports are selective and there are other unreported circumstances privacy policy will not let them disclose, so out of deference to due process and judging facts I’ll suspend my bias against Democrat public school teachers and administrators, and withhold a verdict until more is known. Which is more than many of them would do for me.

Meet the New Boss…

In Gun Owners of America’s (GOA) ongoing case challenging the Biden administration’s “zero tolerance” policy, which implemented stringent standards for federal firearms dealers that enabled licenses to be revoked over paperwork errors, the government does not intend to change its position, according to GOA’s Tuesday filing exclusively obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation. But…but…but…

Anyone surprised?

Besides the gun groups?

Good First Steps

The Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives announced today the repeal of the Enhanced Regulatory Enforcement Policy and the review of Final Rule 2021R-08F, related to stabilizing braces, and Final Rule 2022R-17F, related to the definition of “engaging in the business” of firearms dealing. As for “consultations with stakeholders, including gun rights organizations, industry leaders and legal experts,” why not formalize that?

A viable way to present a coordinated front representing gun owner interests and having the president’s ear is by the White House replacing Joe Biden’s Office of Gun Violence Prevention with an Office for Second Amendment Protection.

A Zero Sum Game

DOJ and ATF Repeal Zero Tolerance Policy, Major Second Amendment Win for the Trump Administration [More]

I want to see what still triggers revocations — and consistency of decisons– before I get too excited, which I won’t do anyway because there will still be an ATF with the power to destroy Americans’ lives over exercising their right in a way the government, with no legitimate delegated authority, doesn’t want to allow.

Zero Tolerance is No Virtue

The bill, introduced on Tuesday, will “provide firearm licensees an opportunity to correct statutory and regulatory violations, and for other purposes” and says the “Attorney General may not bring an enforcement action to revoke, or deny a renewal of, a license for a violation of any provision of this chapter or any implementing regulation thereof on the basis of a self-reported violation.” [More]

Good. I was getting tired of posting photos of inspectors with apparent slack stains and then having to deal with threats from U.S. Marshals.

Although I wouldn’t expect Senate Dems to let the bill go anywhere, it’s not on her GovTrack page yet, so I can’t give you a prognosis percent, but my bet is low single-digit.

Tangentially related, I saw an interesting comment over at John Crump’s YouTube video:

Earlier this year I was at Academy Sports with a friend who was purchasing a pistol. The employee made him redo the form because he couldn’t read his signature. The employee said that the ATF had recently audited them and complained about not being able to read the signatures and said that they must be legible.

I sent them this to see what’s what, and will let you know if I do or do not hear back:
