The Human Condition

Can negligent discharges be prevented? [More]

Most of them can, the stupid kind where someone is cleaning the gun, or leaves it for a kid to find…

When split seconds count and the adrenaline is flooding the system, training for such eventualities is the best minimizer.

I’ve never had an ND, but I did have a carelessness mishap, just yesterday.

I was going to make a ham and cheese sandwich for lunch and grabbed the toaster and the crumb tray latch caught on the shelving rack we keep it on, opening it and spilling the unemptied contents. I started to bitterly blame the objects and my wife just looked at me and instantly shut me down by saying “The gun went off.”

  1. The times my wife pisses me off the most are invariably when she’s right.

Rule 1: The woman is right.
Rule 2: If it should appear that the man is right, refer back to Rule 1.
