Actually, no, that’s not the question you should be asking. You should be asking “Will you closely examine what you’re doing wrong that enabled the crisis condition to arise in the first place, and make the corrections going forward so YOUR job gets done and the Feds can focus on what the Feds are supposed to be doing.
Here’s the bottom line.
1. In jurisdiction after jurisdiction, one statistic holds remarkably constant: 90% of violent street crime is committed by a mere 10% of your hard core professional criminals.
2. The police, the courts, the bail bondsmen, the ADAs, the Public Defenders, the Judges, the Bailiffs, and probably the courthouse janitors know exactly who they are. Lord knows their victims certainly do.
3. At any time, any mayor can call in their politically appointed Police Chief and tell them, “Get this scum off of my streets within 72 hours or by I swear to you your replacement will.
4. But they don’t.
Take a close look there at #4. That, Boys and Girls, Ladies and Gentlemen, and all of you God’s Creatures in between, is the problem. Figure out #4 and 90% of your violent crime goes away.
