At least half the island summer population is New York Metro residents. That generally makes them a level beyond the home grown marxists. The gentrification of this island and Martha’s Vinyard by the super rich and the obscenely super rich has wiped out most of the native middle class and certainly the poor who can no longer afford to live there by any stretch. It is not worth doing any minimum wage service job or any job at all that does not pay $150K a year, since the housing costs are so high. The beautiful people want, need, and expect servants and services to be delivered though, so enter the new slave class of illegal aliens who will wait tables and clean toilets for sub minimum wage off the books. I do wonder where they keep them though, there must be bunk houses or some such for the illegals much like the Jamaican apple pickers live in up my way.
