Establish a Second Amendment Czar… Create and Staff a First and Second Amendment Section Within the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division … Enact Massive National Firearms Act (NFA) Arms Reforms [More]
For reasons I’ve explained before, “czar” doesn’t work for me, but a liaison with the Office of Second Amendment Protection sure would.

During my early, pre-divestiture, days with TPC*, I often worked with people from Western Electric Company. In those days they were called “WECo.” WECo invented, designed, manufactured, and installed all equipment used in TPC Central Offices.
WECo’s contract specified that in the absence of a manager present, an installation crew would be led by a level 5 installer who would be paid a per diem “In Charge” differential.
Of course, being the polite and considerate guys the installers were, (they would make “Animal House” look sane) the In Charge was referred to by the rest of the crew as the MFIC,which stood for “My Friend In Charge” (nudge, nudge, wink, wink).
We’re not even on friendly terms with the Russians these days, if in fact we ever were. So I just don’t get the use of Czar or Tzar, a Russian corruption of the Roman title “Caesar”. Ditto for the German version: “Kaiser”. Your point that Fuhrer has a negative connotation is well taken.
But at least for the time being, we still speak English here. If we can’t just use “Leader”, couldn’t we come up with something with a bit more class?
I vote for MFIC.

* TPC was made famous in the political satire movie “The President’s Analyst.” If you want to know what 3 letter agency really runs this country, if not the world, you should watch the movie.
