A U.S. Border Patrol agent was briefly arrested last week after attempting to bring a flash-bang grenade through security at McAllen-Miller International Airport in Texas, prompting a police response and raising questions about airport security enforcement and prosecutorial decisions. [More]
Charges were dismissed against him but not against a “civilian’ who forgot his handgun in his carry-on.
I’m not buying the “probable cause” excuse. This looks more to me like another case of “professional courtesy.”

I do not believe that the photograph that illustrates the article is of the actual scanned carry-on bag. The grenade does not appear to a flash-bang grenade but does appear to be of a fragmentation grenade design. Also seen in the photograph is a metal framed semi-auto pistol with the magazine removed. It is unclear whether the removed magazine is in the photograph.
They probably just used a stock photo for illustration purposes.
