“What difference, at this point, does it make?” — Hillary Clinton
The case can, and has been made, that the NRA’s record on defending RKBA borders on a long running joke on a small, and shrinking, part of its membership.
They could have truly been the 800 pound silverback gorilla in the defense of RKBA. But they never were, are not, and most likely never will be.
Why not? Because they never wanted to be. The voices of the hunters, the target shooters, and the safety trainers always drowned out the voices of the RKBA folks.
Rather, the case could be made that their actions have been that of the world’s largest gun control organization. A past president even praised the 1934 NFA in the organization’s official journal.
One thing about beating your head against a wall. It feels so good when you stop.

I would not presume to tell you when it is time to stop beating your own particular head against your particular wall. That’s way above my pay grade.
But I have given up on expecting better, or even different, results from the NRA.
Q: How many psychiatrists does it take to change a light bulb?
A: Only one, but the light bulb has to want to change.
Where NRA is concerned, I’m pretty sure my Life Membership will have expired before NRA’s approach to RKBA changes in any meaningful way. Those members who gave a rat’s posterior about the subject are now an even smaller percentage than they once were. Where is NRA’s motivation to embody meaningful change in their approach going to come from?
