μολὼν λαβέ — Because there is no direct translation from Greek to English (the tenses don’t really line up), and the Greek quoted is not even the dialect that Leonidas would have spoken, the closest that we can approximate what he said is “having come, you may take”, i.e. By the time you and your guys get to the top of this wall we will have no further need of our weapons.
