How Old Do You Have to be to Buy a Gun [More]
Tench Coxe said “sixteen to sixty” as fit for militia service, but never even hinted at ownership prohibitions on either side of that range.
U.S. Code says “The militia of the United States consists of all able-bodied males at least 17 years of age,” so how it can then require 21 for handguns is one of those paradoxes that can only be explained by pointing out fraud.
Michael Bloomberg says “25”… if you’re a minority male.
And, of course, we know the goal is Democrats would rather see you dead first.
“How Old Do You Have to be to Buy a Gun”
To get the answers you really want, you have to be careful what it is you ask.
The question implies but doesn’t include the word “legally”. That’s not merely quibbling over semantics, it changes everything.
You see, the legislators seem to think they can prevent someone below a certain age from acquiring a gun by passing a law. That would be the height of foolishness. Alcohol consumption actually went up during prohibition. I personally never wanted what they call an “assault weapon.” But after the 1994 AWB was passed as part of Bill Clinton’s crime bill, I bought a pre-ban Springfield M1A the very first chance I got. Simply because my government told me I couldn’t have one. There are countless Americans with similar motivations, and have been at least since the Boston Tea Party.
They can pass whatever laws they want. Americans will continue to do what they want. People below whatever minimum age legislators arbitrarily set will continue to buy guns.
