And the Copsucker of the Year Award Goes To…

Today, the @HouseGOP passed a bill to REMOVE regulations limiting concealed carry rights for law enforcement officers. Whether on duty or off, these brave men and women always do what’s needed to protect our communities. They’ve earned the right to carry, and we’re making sure they can do so to keep both themselves and our communities safe. [More]

And we saw how many came to our aid after LEOSA passed.

“Earned.” Good grief, Ronny.

Now wipe your chin.

  1. This reminds me of ‘Starship Troopers’, where only “citizens” have rights. And in the film and novel, “citizen” doesn’t have the meaning you might think it has…

  2. If a right must be “earned”, it’s not a right; it’s a highly-controlled privilege.

Precisely what the Founders had in mind for “the security of a free State,” right, Ronny?

    1. Most SciFi stories are a “what if” under the covers. Heinlein’s “what if” in “Starship Troopers” was: what if the people who were expected to fight and die in humanity’s seemingly endless wars actually got first say on whether a war was fought in the first place.

So, in the story, while picking up the wreckage of humanity’s latest cluster-f*ck, the surviving veterans set up a “one world government” where only those who had served got to vote. That “what if” society was the setting for a story about young rich Johnny Rico joining up to serve to impress a girl and in the process became a man.

Note that the abortion of a move of the same name was by a director who admittedly never read the book and kinda, sorta, left Heinlein’s premis out of the movie altogether.

The book is one of my favs but the movie supposedly based on it royally sux.

Note that Robert A Heinlein was a USNAVY vet.
