FAFO

An unidentified man died at the scene after allegedly trying to rob an off-duty officer’s property in Weatherford, Texas, and being shot dead by that officer. [More]

Sounds like a happy ending.

I didn’t give this an “Only Ones” title because I’m presuming in Texas an ordinary armed citizen could do the same.

The again, I’m assuming the level of investigation into what happened would be the same.

  1. In Texas an ordinary citizen, observing a thief grabbing his stuff, with no expectation of being able to identify or apprehend said thief, may exercise suitable force to stop the theft.
But that ordinary citizen would find himself referred to a Grand Jury for a decision as to whether his actions were reasonable under the circumstances or whether he would be indicted for any of several charges up to and including murder.
Not a lawyer, just an ordinary citizen in Texas who thinks about this stuff too much.
    Cheers
