Moving in for the Kill

Breaking: Sandy Hook Families Now Seeking $2.75 TRILLION in Addition to Billion from Alex Jones [More]

My natural sympathy has gone right out the window. Whether they’re launching this obscene attack on freedom out of greed or out of grief ceases to matter at this point, because this group of blinded tools is allowing itself to be used to undermine both speech and RKBA. Either way, they deserve to be repelled.

  1. So they just one almost a billion dollars that Jones likely will never be able to pay.

And they’re now seeking $2.75 trillion? On what grounds, exactly?

Because people listened to him, which is something that short of removing his videos (read: self-censoring his First-Amendment-protected speech) he has zero control over? Where is YouTube’s liability here, for their algorithm directing people to his channel?

If getting a lot of money via lawfare is this easy … well … y’know, I’ve always found that “Gangnam Style” song by Korean hip-hop start PSY kind of offensive (and the man himself is kind of offensive, too). In the 10 years it’s been out, it’s amassed about 4.5 billion views, plus generated a bunch of “dance” renditions and inspired a ton of spin-off videos.

How’s about we sue PSY and his recording company for about $40 trillion – $22.5t for the 4.5 billion views on “Gangnam Style” @ $5,000 each, and the rest for the other videos that wouldn’t exist without his original.

Then we can go after The Trace, Everytown, the Bradys, etc., for $5,000 for each view on each of their offensively fact-challenged ads and videos on each of their respective channels. While we’re at it, let’s ask for $10,000 in damages for each view of each political endorsement, and $100 million more if that candidate won.

What’s good for the goose is good for the gander, and these are the precedents they’re setting here, right?
