Sen. Dick Durbin says he’s ‘overwhelmed’ after Pope Leo defended him from abortion-related criticism – After Durbin withdrew from accepting an award from Chicago’s cardinal, the pope said that “it’s important to look at the overall work that a senator has done.” [More]
Why does Ephesians 6:12 come to mind with this news?
Should we be surprised that a Pope steeped in the anti-RKBA environment of Chicago would be saying “it’s important to look at the overall work that a senator has done.”
And what “other work” do you suppose would, in Pope Leo’s judgement, outweigh Durban’s stance on the “mortal sin” of abortion?

Nope, not it.
It was advocacy for illegal immigrants!
What a hot sketch this Pope is!
Grew up in Catholic school. Odd, I don’t recall teachings of forgiveness being accorded to one who repeatedly and knowingly committed a mortal sin or two, with full knowledge and intent.
But then I’m neither a religious scholar or even a church janitor.
Popes have long ago taken the roles of politicos, con-men and self-dealing weasels.
Amen
When it comes to Popes in general, it would be hard for anyone to top this guy.
