Special Education

Now all Oregonians will be getting a taste of what the legislature dishes out to gun owners year after year. [More]

Based on results Democrats getting a free ride like the taste, the brainwashed ones in the middle have bought into the “fair share” nonsense, and the ones at the top gaining more power and influence have money men to dodge and minimize the impacts.

  1. One of the grand ironies of this “special session” is that it didn’t need to happen at all.

It’s happening in part because SEIU (the union) pressured Gov. Kotek to call the “special session” after the legislature failed to pass an ODOT funding bill during the regular session, which means 470-something ODOT employees got layoff notices.

Note that Democrats have a super-majority in both chambers of the legislature. Republicans can “oppose” a bill, but by showing up to provide a quorum, they allow it to pass. That’s how Oregon keeps getting stricter “gun control” laws.

Since Republicans showed up, the ball was entirely in the SEIU-supported and -endorsed Democrats’ court, and they failed to make ODOT funding a priority. It’s entirely the Dems’ fault ODOT didn’t get funded to the point that (SEIU-represented) ODOT employees are facing possible layoffs, and it will be entirely the Dems’ fault when gas and road taxes go way up to fund projects that will never be completed.

(Republicans’ only request — since they lack the power to demand — is that the fund-raising bill doesn’t include highway tolls, which currently don’t exist anywhere in the state; implementing them will require building the infrastructure from the ground up, which will cost even more.)

But SEIU will still support and endorse a full Democrat voting ticket next term, because what else are they gonna do? Endorse Republicans? Hah!
