Sure as Shooting!

Charges have been dropped against Alec Baldwin in the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of his Western movie “Rust” after “new facts” surfaced in recent days, officials said Thursday. [More]

Thank goodness! Now he can get back to lecturing the rest of us on “commonsense gun safety laws”!

In the absence of evidence showing deliberate misbehavior on the part of the armorer, would it be out of line to wonder how much those “new facts” cost?

  1. Dropped “without prejudice”, which means they can refile charges if the “new facts” deem it.

It’s interesting: “Gun violence survivors” like David Hogg (who wasn’t even there) are assumed to be more qualified to lecture us on “gun violence”, but what about a guy who actually shot someone? More qualified, or less?

  2. The “new facts” weren’t necessarily exonerating facts, they were just recently-uncovered facts about the case that required further time-consuming investigation; so to avoid the “clock running out” on the indictment, they closed it without prejudice so it could be opened again later when and if the facts still indicate guilt.

  3. I personally think this case is simply going to fade away for Baldwin, who is evidently on the top tier of our multi-level justice system due to his Big Dem Immunity. It is hard to conceive what “new facts” may have surfaced after a multi-year investigation that sucked resources from many other murder cases. Note to Mr. Baldwin: if this happens again in Montana, where you moved your pathetic low budget production, “your mileage may vary.”

The real loser is the airhead blonde Hannah Gutierrez-Reed who is the designated Fall Girl and will doubtless meet the “girls” at the Graybar Hotel. Not that she wasn’t irresponsible and negligent but she also wasn’t the one who pulled the trigger.

Every reader of this blog knows that if one of us had committed this “accident” we’d already be looking at the world through bars.
