Swatting mayhem: Universities scrambling to respond to hoax active shooter reports [More]

An expectation of certain public caning upon conviction followed by 20 years busting rocks would put the crimp on a lot of impulses. Unfortunately, that would just net the stupid ones. Then again, maybe the government doesn’t want to admit how much it can crack and trace because of larger priorities.

As for real threats, less of this and more of this would go a long way toward making things right.

Half the article is just deconstructing the first sentence of this nonsense, it’s crammed with so much wrong. So naturally, the media runs with it and amplifies it.
