The More Things Change the More They Stay the Same

Between 70-90% of guns recovered at crime scenes in Mexico can be traced back to the U.S. [More]

This is the same crap the grabbers were pulling before we exposed Fast and Furious gunwalking.  It says nothing about guns purposely NOT submitted for tracing.

How about government does its job and safeguards the f***ing  border instead of you letting in the cartels while demanding our disarmament?

I’m sorry for the Newtown losses, but they’re not my fault and any natural sympathy I have goes out the window when they attack my right to protect myself and my loved ones. Whether you attack me out of greed or out of grief ceases to matter at that point– either way, you deserve to be repelled.

  1. I heard some time back that the only guns that Mexico turns over to the Americans for evaluation are the ones with serial numbers. Little known fact is that America is the only country that legally requires serial numbers on ALL new guns.

So they SHOULD BE saying that “70-90% of guns recovered in Mexico WITH AMERICAN SERIAL NUMBERS are traced to America”…. which would be a dumb statement.

The cartels are getting their favorite automatic weapons from places other than the United States, like South America, the Middle East, North Korea…etc…and for a lot cheaper than they would be if they WERE getting them from the United States.

They probably consider American Made guns to be “pussy guns”.

  2. Adding to what “Anonymous” said:

Between 70-90% of guns recovered at crime scenes in Mexico can be traced back to the U.S.

False. Mexican authorities only submit trace requests to the BATFE if they believe the gun might have come from the U.S. Guns that aren’t obtainable in America aren’t submitted.

A factually correct headline would read: Between 70-90% of guns recovered at crime scenes in Mexico and submitted to BATFE for tracing can be traced back to the U.S.

The question is, how many guns are recovered at crime scenes and — having clearly NOT come from the U.S. — are NOT submitted to the BATFE?

But hey, even if it’s been proven false, there’s no point in letting a good narrative go to waste, amirite?

    1. Yeah….It’s like I said. The only ones they submit to BATFE are the ones with serial numbers.

  3. “The old saying is that “figures will not lie,” but a new saying is “liars will figure.” It is our duty, as practical statisticians, to prevent the liar from figuring; in other words, to prevent him from perverting the truth, in the interest of some theory he wishes to establish.” — Carroll D. Wright (1889)

“The New York “World” has discovered, according to its own account, a deficit of over forty millions in his calculations. What a horrible satire it is to say that figures won’t lie. They are the greatest liars in the modern world.” — unnamed columnist in Halifax, Nova Scotia (1869)

And so on and so on “ad nauseum”

The short form is, liars have been figuring for hundreds of years, and likely will continue after all of us are gone. A pox on all their houses.
