Everybody’s picking up that it’s “common usage” arguments they’re arguing to impose limits, right?

You also don’t need CBS, ABC, NBC, because the government has PBS.
It has been written the Benjamin Franklin went to Britain with the idea that the conflict between some colonists’ demands to be treated as free born Englishmen and George III’s government’s treatment of them as subjects could be negotiated away. When he returned to the colonies unsuccessful, he realized that the conflict was going to go “hot” and that he agreed more with the colonist’s position than that of the King’s government.
This put him in direct opposition to his son William, who was the last royal governor of new Jersey, and was a cause of what became a life long estrangement between father and (illegitimate) son.
But that opposition goes far beyond the Franklin family and is one of the oldest in human society: where does the proper balance between individual liberty and state power lie? As Mike Vanderboegh (and others) have phrased it: does the government exist to serve the people, or do the people exist to serve the state?
The reality is that the Tories, like Governor William Franklin will always be with us, ready to have the dispute always be decided in favor of the state. They’re still in charge of our “Blue” states and will be for the foreseeable future, because the majority of the people in those states agree with that view. Hopefully they will always be opposed by people like Thomas Jefferson.

Arms to remind men such as Fidel Castro and statists in the various governments in the United States and elsewhere, that a war was fought on this continent to settle the balance between the power of the state and the rights of the people. That the people won that war. And that the people have the means to fight and win that war again.
