Trump suggests ‘distinguished’ ex-military teachers could carry weapons at schools [More]
So… a new category of “Only Ones“…?
That’s not a FASTER requirement, and the program’s been working great.
It’s not a 2A requirement, either.
I gotta get this serial administration cheerleader some pom poms.

Fortunately, there’s a Constitutional alternative:
H.R. 5066: Safe Students Act – To repeal the Gun-Free School Zones Act of 1990 and amendments to that Act.
If at first you don’t succeed…

That and the guy floating unequal protection calls Massie “a third-rate Grandstander” (as opposed, I suppose, to a first-rate one?) and wants him out.

I went to Catholic school until the 8th grade, and then went to a public school in a very rural part of our state. My graduating class had only 75 students.
Looking back, I can truly say that there were only a handful of teachers that I would have considered able to not only handle a firearm safely, but have the courage to engage a threat if one arose.
There were some real left leaning weasels.
Interestingly one of the ones that looking back I feel would have put her life on the line for the kids was Sister Ruth. Tough cookie… Didn’t back down from anyone. Not sure she would have ever used a firearm, but she had the grit.
Arming school officials will only be effective if the armed individual is willing to put themselves in harms way and engage with a shooter. And even then, if a shooter fires from outside the building into a group, much damage can happen before a response can happen. This requires an almost military mindset.
Until Uvalde, I was of the ‘have an armed response officer in each school’ camp. But if that person won’t engage, what are we left with?
This is really a two-step process. First off, take advantage of the low-hanging fruit — teachers and staff who are ALREADY independently trained, and willing to carry, but currently forbidden by law. Only after that do you need to worry about attracting and training additional volunteers.
My HS’s vice principal was a man of the cloth, but was also a former Marine — no doubts on that score. (Heck, for all I know he might have been carrying — it was long before GFSZA.)
