Trump has given Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton his “Complete and Total Endorsement” in the Republican runoff against Sen. John Cornyn, calling Paxton a “true MAGA Warrior” and specifically citing his commitment to “Protect our always under siege Second Amendment.” [More]

Just remember to stay on his good side, Ken. Because he once had “terrific” things to say about another guy:

Massietrump 600x600

No tears for Cornyn, just nobody think Paxton comes without warts.

With Massie’s engineered loss, Trump is showing any Party doubters how he can clear the board and replace the pieces. It’ll be interesting to see what events capture the public attention before November and how those play with the general electorate, or if Democrats all hate Trump so much they’ll more widely greenlight communists.

And then see what Trump’s plans are for John Thune after that.

The Home Stretch

He answered mine– sort of.

You know where I stand.

This is what you want to watch.

Timing is Everything

Massie’s ex-girlfriend alleges he arranged her Capitol Hill job, then offered $5,000 to drop termination suit – Allegations surface as Massie faces a bruising Kentucky primary challenge from Trump-backed Ed Gallrein [More]

I guess it’s easier than debating him.

And with the critical implications of these allegations, does no one find this curious and worth investigating?

Who is he? What are his interests? How has the media vetted him for credibility?

Not a Good Look

They seem like reasonable questions for voters to want answers to.

Then again, I thought all mine were, too, and while he answered some, he ignored others.

It didn’t have to be this way.

And once more, NRA shows it has learned nothing:

They’re still smarting over the last time they tried to f_ him over with a fraudulent replacement because they wanted to insert Fix NICS into the reciprocity bill.

Next time NRA begs you for money, tell them you’re sending it to Massie instead.

Lipstick on a Pig

Tomorrow the House will bring my NICS reporting bill for a vote! My bill aims to reduce the number of false denials created by the gun background check system. NICS disproportionately cheats law abiding minorities out of their right to keep & bear arms. [More]

The whole idea of a prior restraint on the right of the people to keep and bear arms would have killed the Constitution in its crib. That said, I understand the theory of incrementalism, how it’s been used by Democrats with great success to “normalize” infringements, and how dancing around the edges can be a more effective tactic.

But that said, if Massie really wants to throw it in their faces and expose NICS as being less about background checks and more about identifying who owns what, he should introduce the Blind Identification Database System (BIDS) Act.

The Gold Standard of Politicians

Trump and his trolls trying to primary this informed patriot are being destructive asses.

Tangentially-Related UPDATE

At a Senate Homeland Security hearing on the Second Amendment, Senators Rand Paul, Ron Johnson, and Josh Hawley question witnesses over concerns about efforts to weaken constitutional gun rights. The exchange highlights sharp divisions over how far federal policy should go in regulating firearms. Watch the three most talked-about moments from the hearing right here. [Watch]

But we always come back to what are they gonna do about it, don’t we?

Prognosis
3% chance of being enacted

Rep. Thomas Massie addressed that and more when he introduced a House version (HR9534, the National Constitutional Carry Act) in 2024. Going back to that article reminded me that NRA downgraded him for voting against industry-approved gun control.

An Incomplete Response

However, there were some other things Codrea asked about that weren’t specifically answered, such as what Congress should do about gun-free zones and what kind of role Congress should play with regard to the supposedly pro-gun DOJ continuing to side with the Biden-era positions on Second Amendment cases. And that, to me, needs to be a consideration when evaluating the rest of his answers.

The Second Amendment is the sole focus of this article, not any other policy issues or the reasons Trump wants to end Massie’s political career, nor Massie’s reasons for opposing parts of the president’s agenda.

Unfortunately, out of all those “pro-gun” Republicans there are only 13 co-sponsors and the prognosis says there’s a “1% chance of being enacted.”

Funny, how our best-Second-Amendment-president-ever’s primary concern is getting rid of Massie...

Even funnier that the NRA tried to torpedo him.

The Not Ready for Prime Time Player

Law-abiding citizens should have the right to responsibly own firearms without excessive government interference. [More]

That sounds like some shallow appeal-to-those-who -don’t-think-it-through weasel wording right there.

What about when being “law-abiding” means surrendering that “fundamental aspect of our freedom and security”? And how is any government interference with that which shall not be infringed not excessive?

And yeah– so much for “America First.”

Here’s how she fights:

Thomas Massie has failed us. He voted against cutting taxes on tips, overtime, and Social Security. He even voted NO on protecting children from AI-generated child exploitation.

This is a crafted misrepresentation. That first part is in the debt increase package. In the second, he saw unintended consequences in unelected Melania’s pet legislative process and Speaker Johnson would not allow amendments.

It’s all part of the all too familiar politics of personal destruction, where, “yuge” ego seeks revenge on any who oppose, support is bestowed on supplicants who fawn, and attacks are ad hominem logical fallacies.

This is what Trump wants to replace Massie with, and cultists in the 4th District are falling for it? I’m not trusting that poll, because right now she only has 53 Truth followers and 176 on Facebook. One suggested she’d get more exposure on X, but I think her campaign is afraid of the rationing she’d get from Constitutionalists sick of all the BS.

I’m with Elon on this.

Let’s see, how do they retaliate?

We strike military targets. They target civilians.

Let’s see what happens to that “increasing appetite” when their people here start doing that. Speaking of which, file this under “WTF?”

I want the Constitution observed. Since this affects me and mine, I want my representatives to weigh in. Calling someone who agrees with that a “pathetic loser” is ad hominem, a logical fallacy. It does not speak well to position or character.

Oh, and I’d like to see the evidence.

Still, we would be remiss if we didn’t acknowledge how we got to this point.

H.Con.Res. 38: Directing the President pursuant to section 5(c) of the War Powers Resolution to remove United States Armed Forces from unauthorized hostilities in the Islamic Republic of Iran… Prognosis
24% chance of being agreed to [More]

Seems to me ignoring the Constitutional delegation of the power to declare war to Congress has produced nothing but catastrophe since the end of WWII. If we’re going to risk WWIII, I want to have a say in it through my representatives.

It’s both amazing and depressing to see how knee-jerk hostile many self-identified MAGA types get on social media at the suggestion that we might just want to listen to the Founders on this. Ditto for some gun owners, who aren’t grokking a text, history, and tradition parallel…

I guess they’re ready for martial law, ration cards, and suspension of rights. Either that or they think it will always just be something we see on the news.

Very few seem to be asking “Cui bono?” or connecting dots to the “Deep State” Trump campaigned against.
