Dishonorable Mentions

Per WarOnGuns Correspondent Andy M via email:

Of Democrats that NRA endorsed who later back stabbed them and us… Kathy Hochul. Who also was adored by your old pal Jacob reiper who used to run political action at nysrpa. And one more to add!Fw: Add Sen Bob Casey to your list…

Maybe someday I’ll spend time compiling an actual list — but it would also have to include Republican traitors like Brian Mast, Fred Upton, and more…

Hunter Biden Gun Pleadings Threaten to Derail Joe’s Entire Agenda

The citizen disarmament house of cards … may be set to collapse, and “the Big Guy” may have a son who will do anything to save his own skin to thank for it. [More]

It’s like we’re living in an absurdist farce if Hunter Biden, in a drug-fueled orgiastic stupor, ends up doing more to advance the Second Amendment than Wayne LaPierre after decades in charge of the freakin’ NRA…

Carry On

The biggest win was stopping the “private building consent rule,” which declares all private property that is open to the public to be a prohibited place—unless the property owner expressly allows individuals to enter the premises with a firearm… The court also enjoined the ban on carrying in a place where alcoholic beverages were consumed from taking effect… And the court prevented the ban on carrying at public demonstrations from taking effect. [More]

But “may issue” is still “may not”…?

The Importance of Being Ernst

Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA) is asking the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) to explain the surge in revoked Federal Firearms Licenses (FFLs) and suggesting it has overstepped the boundaries of the law. [More]

“Suggesting”…?

Is that finger in the air to see which way the wind is blowing?

This is the same “solidly pro-gun candidate” who voted with Chuck Schumer on that “bipartisan” bill the administration is now using to sabotage private sales.

Undoing All the Good and Then Some

NRA Endorses Attorney General Jeff Landry for Louisiana’s Gubernatorial Race [More]

Yeah, well, what does one have to do with the other?

It doesn’t matter what you vote on today with the right hand if the left hand is making voting useless tomorrow.

Making It Personal

…Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert signed an executive order banning all firearms on city property … This executive action was taken following a move by the city council to strike the previous city ordinances on firearms. This was done to comply with the new statewide preemption law that takes effect on Saturday, along with constitutional carry. [More]

And naturally, “The only exceptions to this order are for law enforcement, contracted security personnel, recreational shotgun use at the Harry A. Koch Trap & Skeet facility, and those granted exemption by the Chief of Police.”

This is why claiming to be a Republican can never be enough.

I guess if hubby couldn’t be trusted with a gun, you can’t, either. Or is it bad form to point that out, even if it looks like she moved on soon enough?

You want to cry foul, cry foul.

I owe no sympathy to someone who demands I obey their terms of surrender or else and put my life and the lives of those I love at risk.

And you’ll note NRA didn’t dare tell you about this.

Shot Full of Lead

A federal court on Friday rejected a long-fought effort by environmental groups to force a ban on lead ammo in a national forest, providing a key win for hunters, the National Rifle Association, and the United States Forest Service. [More]

It’s been a long time coming. Last night I brought out the Center for Biological Diversity gorilla hand ashtray to celebrate.

Now sue them.

It’s a Feature, Not a Bug

It should be more than obvious that the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act that credulous GOP Senator John Cornyn shepherded into law along with Connecticut’s Chris Murphy was nothing but a stalking horse for expanding the federal government’s regulation of firearms. [More]

Is “folly” the right word here?

Lawmaker of the Year

Thank you @GovTimWalz for making Minnesota a safer place to live due to new gun sense laws including ERPO and background checks on all gun purchases. It was an honor to present you with the @Everytown Lawmaker of the Year Award. You kept your promise. @MomsDemand #mnleg [More]

Yeah, about that

I don’t suppose NRA would be willing to release answers to the questionnaire this lying piece of steaming political excrement returned to get their endorsement…?

Let’s see if this is allowed to stay up— and if it is, what kind of indignant rage it will yield…

NRA Reform Candidates

Longtime readers know, I only endorse candidates who have successfully answered my questionnaire. That said, Robert K. Brown is asking friends to help spread petitions for Rocky Marshall and Phillip Journey.

I haven’t approached either, so they probably don’t know about my Q&A and I don’t know what they’d do if they did. I’m sharing this information because Col. Brown asked.

Do your due diligence and then do what you think is right.

I’ll say this much– after all their bitching about NRA, if members don’t care enough to change it, they deserve to have it collapse on them.

So Much for Coexistence

Senate Majority Leader @SenSchumer is negotiating with the NRA to pass his priority bill – the SAFE Act, a cannabis banking legislation – with Section 10 added as a sweetener for the NRA-backed Senate Republicans. We appreciate @SenJackReed working to modify the bill to ensure that regulators can warn banks about risky customers – like gun retailers. Congress should not be negotiating with the NRA, a terrorist group that is pushing its any guns to anyone everywhere agenda. Guns are the #1 killer of our children & gun deaths have increased 50% since the Sandy Hook shooting tragedy. [More]

That’s OK. I don’t authorize anyone to negotiate on my behalf with hate groups.

Especially when it involves naked tyranny.

These people are quickly becoming my favorite guntard group — every time the bigger ones start to sound like they’re “commonsense” and “moderate,” just share something these fanatics post to show how any “compromise” will never be enough.

They’re so cartoonishly over the top, I’m starting to suspect Po Murray of being our gal in the gun ban camp…

Bush AG Gonzales’ Proves Authoritarian Swamp Republicans No Different From Democrats

Gonzales showed what kind of Republican he was back in 2005 when he told the Senate he wanted them to remove Patriot Act restrictions and that he supported Congress extending the expired “assault weapon” ban, pointing out that his brother was a Houston SWAT officer… [More]

It must be a “good” boot to the face if it has an “R” on it. Right…?

Face Value

Are you getting a return on your investment with the NRA? [Watch]

I guess. I became a Life Member back in the 90s and every month they send me their magazine, so I’m sure the initial donation has been paid back. That and I’ve attended several Annual Meetings at no admission cost. But I haven’t sent them a dime in decades now and like many others won’t unless and until heads at the top roll.

With Republicans Like These

Two Republicans — Reps. Thomas Kean Jr. (N.J.) and Brian Fitzpatrick (Pa.) — broke from the party and voted against the legislation… [More]

I knew about this Fitzpatrick piece of crap— and his strange hold over Kevin McCarthy. Kean hasn’t been on my radar yet to know what a phony he is:

The National Rifle Association (NRA) Victory Fund gave Tom Kean, Jr. these ratings for the following election cycles: an A+ rating (100 percent) for 2017 and a B rating (67 percent) for 2020.

And speaking of phonies, since when is 67% not a “D” and a 1.0 GPA?

Wayne’s Marauders

“I have a message tonight for Merrick Garland and Jack Smith and Joe Biden — and the guys back there in the fake news media, you should listen up as well, this one is for you,” Ms. Lake said. “If you want to get to President Trump, you are going to have go through me, and you are going to have to go through 75 million Americans just like me. And I’m going to tell you, most of us are card-carrying members of the N.R.A.” [More]

And many of us are Wine Club members!

Or shouldn’t we believe that people who can’t even elect a new board can impact the fate of the government?

Didn’t Oath Keepers say essentially the same thing about the vote certification?

So what’s this, defeatist language?

No, I’m just saying Kati Lake shouldn’t involve others in her grandstanding, particularly when she has been powerless to do anything but make noise about Arizona. And I’m the NRA. I’ll decide when and if to answer a muster call, and I’m not 100% on having the back of someone who so often doesn’t have mine.

It sounds more to me like she’s bucking for a Vice President spot on a ticket we might not see happen.

Besides, if and when things go kinetic, expect it to be unexpected.

And There Was War in Heaven

As I said on Monday, the gloves have come off and the powers that be at the NRA have created an implacable enemy in former 1st VP Willes Lee. Now that he is free from the constraints of being both an officer and a member of the Special Litigation Committee, Lee is feeling no remorse about starting to air dirty laundry. [More]

When I met him in Pittsburgh last October at the 2022 NRA-ILA Firearms Law & the Second Amendment Symposium, I thought from the impression I had of him being a Fairfax loyalist that he’d have a real problem with me. Instead, he was gracious, told me voices like mine needed to be heard, and asked me to introduce him to Stephen Stamboulieh. The possibility was there in the back of my mind but I didn’t get the sense I was being played.

Seeing how his years of being the good soldier have been repaid you gotta wonder why– and why Wayne et al. thought that was a good idea. Maybe now that he’s freeing himself up to be candid about its inner workings, perhaps we’ll find out why, as it’s increasingly obvious that his loyalty is to NRA as an institution and its staff.

NRA in Danger blog has more background.

Your Fudd Sense Candidate

As a veteran, gun-owner, hunter, and dad, I know that basic gun safety isn’t a threat to the Second Amendment. [More]

No, of course not. Basic gun safety is essential to it.

But that’s not really what you’re talking about, is it?

Be vewy, vewy quiet… I’m infwinging wights… Hehhehhehhehheh…

You have to wonder what kind of gun owner would be stupid enough to fall for this.

Or go so far as to tell people he’s “a true and constant friend.”

And the Lying Political Whore Award Goes To…

Tennessee governor schedules special session to address guns [More]

Made inevitable by “lesser of two evils” political desperation…

Take the short-term loss to avoid long-term certainty, because as we’ve seen yet once more over in Texas, counting on most “staunch defenders of the Second Amendment” not to be lying whores is a sucker’s game where the house generally wins.

If betrayers aren’t made public examples of, others will see they too can get away with it.
