  1. circa 1995, a CA patrolman (CHP) acting as chauffeur was pulled over for speeding (90+ in a 55 zone).
Even though the car was official state owned, the markings were nigh indistinguishable unless viewed upclose and from certain angle.
The officer was let go without ticket or warning.
The officer who made the stop was reprimanded.
Never mind that this was on ‘blood alley’, that section of Hwy 46 which was known to be extremely hazardous.

In 1981 I was a passenger in a car that was struck head on by a drunk driver. We are fortunate to have not died right there.
The drunk was a CHP officer who had been fired that morning.
Evidence showed he was a repeat offender. For three year the dept tried to protect him. Finally, enough was enough and he was fired.
He had spent the day and into the night alternating between ‘cop bars’ getting soused.
After the accident he threatened me with his service pistol. They hadn’t taken away his badge or firearm. He was in uniform when the accident occured. Which means ge was in uniform when all those hours of drinking.
The officer who investigated the accident (3am, rain, low overcast, very dark rural road) determined our car was at fault. Notwithstanding skidmarks and gouges in roadbed showing otherwise.
2007 at a Terry stop I was verbally and physically assaulted by three PD officers. They were trying to incite me. I figure it was because I had been complaining about the heavy hand of one of their fellows. That same officer had previously threatened my GF with arrest if she didn’t ‘perform’ for him.
There are more personal experiences oike the above.
I do not have a criminal record. I do not use or sell or buy illicit drugs. My most recent moving violation was ‘unsafe lane change’ in 2003.
