We’re the Fauxnly Ones Mimetic Enough

Cherokee County man arrested after driving car resembling law enforcement vehicle, sheriff [More]

Creepy-lookin’ old f_, isn’t he? The leg shackles are a nice touch…

As always, be aware of how commonplace this phenomenon is because one day you may need an “I didn’t believe he was a real cop” defense.

  1. Don’t most of us drive what appears to be unmarked law enforcement vehicles?
I knew someone who bought a used Ford Crown Victoria marked law enforcement vehicle at government auction. The radio and light bar had been removed, the white doors with the police emblems over painted as was the white roof, black fenders and white trunk deck. He did get pulled over by police and accused of impersonating a police officer. He pointed out that he had no obligation under law to further repaint the vehicle. In that particular state, law enforcement vehicles (marked and unmarked) requesting right of way were required to display flashing blue lights, which his auctioned vehicle no longer had installed. His remnant black and white paint scheme had no significance except the conditioned response by other drivers.
