We’re the Only Ones Oath-Keeping Enough?

If it all goes wrong, with whom will the police side?… As with our military, cops tend to be conservative. Duty, honor and integrity are part of their everyday lives, as are grooming standards. If a cop loses his reputation for integrity, his career is over. [More]

There will be a few, but for every one of these, there are superiors, colleagues, and underlings who kept their mouths shut.

  1. Those who forget their history…..

We, as a people, have already been through this twice.

The first time, before organized police forces existed, military veterans who had served under British officers in the French and Indian War, split, some staying and serving with British forces, others joining the Continental Army under Washington. Like in a lot of situations, it isn’t really clear what proportion stayed loyal vs what proportion rebelled.

Roll forward seventy years and you find the Union army coming apart at the seams with Southerners serving in the North headed for home and Northerners serving in the South doing likewise. Some units were so depleted that they lost whatever combat effectiveness they might have had. Both sides began the war fielding an army that was steps short of chaos. The Union army was hit harder in a way because the military tradition was stronger there and the North lost a higher percentage of NCOs and lower level officers. Even today a higher percentage of our NCOs come from the states of the old Confederacy. And then there were the uniforms. Both sides fielded units in blue, grey, green, clown colored “zuaves” and mixtures of all of the above so you couldn’t just open fire on an unidentified unit just because they were wearing a different color than you were.

Can we seriously believe if TSHTF, things will go any more smoothly than they have in the past?

  2. I live in deep blue New Mexico. When Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham recently proclaimed her little gun ban, city and county Chiefs refused to enforce it. The State Police were happy to cover that for her.

She’s term limited. I think she just pulled this stunt to show DC her bona fides so she can weasel her way into some sort of federal office.

  3. History…recent history, has the answer. The badgemonkeys invariably FOLLOW ORDERS. We saw it when they abused their authority during Hurricane Katrina and we’ve seen it countless other times, boh before and since that event. As !ong as their paychecks, dental coverage and retirement plans are intact they will do ANYTHING they are ordered to do. There are no good cops. There are the bad ones who violate rights, assault Innocents and abuse their power….and there are the bad ones who turn a blind eye to all this criminal misconduct. Any “good” cop is rapidly identified and forced out of the job because evil won’t tolerate good. And it’s his way because those in power WANT abusive thugs as cops. They don’t ask questions, they just enjoy their petty power over others. It’s one of the reasons that there is a court ruling ALLOWING police departments to discriminate AGAINST people who are too intelligent.
