But I Have Promises to Keep, and Miles to Go Before I Sleep

“I will get rid of gun-free zones on schools, and — you have to — and on military bases,” Trump said, to scattered cheers during a campaign rally on Thursday night. “My first day, it gets signed, okay? My first day. There’s no more gun-free zones.” [More]

Don’t get too excited. He said that nine years ago.

  1. Besides the Federal prohibition of guns in schools, many states also prohibit by law guns in schools or school property making parking or pick up or drop off of students a problem if you carry a firearm.

    1. The federal law exempts folks licensed by their state to carry a concealed firearm (among others). Some states (not all) contain the same exemption(s) in their laws.

But yes, there is always the question of whether “school” means the actual building, or the entire campus property — including drop-off/pick-up areas. It’s (legally) safer to assume the latter.

  2. Trump, and by extension his cabinet, and his previous cabinet and the GOP’s biggest disappointment for me has been on 2A.
I’ve said it before, in person and online, but if my choice in the mid terms, both local/state/federal elections is between a jackass and a bird brained anti gun elephant, I’m writing in “John Wayne”.

    1. I do something similar, but the name written in is David Codrea.

Don’t believe me? Check my NRA BOD ballots.
