Stiffed on the Bill
The Gun Owners of America were denied in their efforts to collect a $400,000 attorney fee in their successful work in challenging ATF’s bumpstock case. [More]
When writing an update on my case, I made a mistake on the title of my piece that is misleading. The judge’s order, as the text of the article states, was that “the plaintiffs shall file any motion for attorney’s fees.”
I signed a declaration for that last week to allow for the attorneys to submit their claim. We’ll now see if the ATF/DOJ under Trump still intends to fight gun owners tooth and nail.

Rifling Through a Gun Bill
Gun Owners of America endorsed Representative Tracey Mann’s “Reining In Federal Licensing Enforcement Act” …The RIFLE Act would protect Federal Firearm Licensees (FFLs) from being forced out of business by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives’ (ATF) overreaching directives. [More]
I thought ATF announced they were ending zero tolerance voluntarily, but this would make it mandatory and besides, who believes them?
I don’t see it on GovTrack yet, but they give his recently introduced “H.R. 624: To reform the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives” a “1% chance of being enacted.”
There’s still one question no one evidently thinks we’re ready to ask:
Licensing…?

Speaking of History, Text, and Tradition…
Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC) and FPC Action Foundation (FPCAF) have filed an important new lawsuit challenging federal laws prohibiting licensed firearm dealers from selling handguns to out-of-state buyers. [More]
So when I read an authoritative historical article asserting “most of the early American rifles and pistols came from Eastern Pennsylvania,” why does it say nothing about out-of-colony buyers (and more)?

Marvin Richardson to Become the Default Head of the ATF [More]
We’ll see for how long, and if they keep him on at all.
If they sideline him, maybe he can get some tips from his daughter on how to turn it racial. Even though we know who the real racists are.

Off the Record?
Congressman Michael Cloud (TX-27) and Senator Jim Risch (R-ID) today reintroduced the No REGISTRY Rights Act, legislation prohibiting the federal government from creating a federal firearms registry. [More]
It didn’t receive a vote last time out. We’ll see if it fares better this time– so far, there’s no prognisis on chances of being enacted.

What a Difference a Day Makes
What Trump Says He Will Do on Day One [More]
I could have sworn he created a very public expectation about guns:
“Every single Biden attack on gun owners and manufacturers will be terminated on my very first week back in office, perhaps my first day.”
“[S]tarting the minute that Crooked Joe shuffles his way out of the White House at noon on Inauguration Day, we will sack the anti-gun fanatic Steve Dettelbach … and replace him with an ATF director who respects the sacred rights to keep and bear arms.”
OK, Dettelbach sacked himself, but we’ll have to see if his replacement is a priority, and what difference he will make.
“Under a Trump Administration, all of those Biden disasters get ripped up and torn out my first week, but maybe my first day in office,” the president declared “Okay maybe my first.”
Rules for Thee…
As of this guide’s initial publish date, 80% lower receivers and frames are not considered as firearms by the ATF however they are not legal to ship directly to buyers residing in the District of Columbia. [More]
Not because ATF didn’t try, but it’s probably OK because my bet is they didn’t buy it.

Just more self-serving noise that distracts from doing the doable.
And I note there’s no text yet, but here’s one reality you can take to the bank: The only thing that will change is the men behind the masks enforcing NFA, GCA, Hughes, Lautenberg, and all the other infringements.
