By a Long Shot

The previous record of 4 miles set in 2020 was defeated by a 4.4-mile target hit in the high desert of western Wyoming. The bullet took 24 seconds to hit the 8-inch bullseye… [More]

Why does anyone need a dangerous “weapon of war” like that? And shouldn’t such mad skill be restricted?

And “a team of extreme long-range enthusiasts”? Like a right-wing conspiracy?

‘Activist Investor Lawfare’?

KE Arms Sued: What GWACS Armory Doesn’t Want You To Know — A Lawyer Explains [Watch]

As I indicated earlier, I don’t know anything about this and won’t have time to learn. There’s only one of me and the plate is overflowing with other priorities and commitments already. Full disclosure: I didn’t even have time to watch this 19-minute video in its entirety, either.

I post this as an information resource for those of you who do have an interest in this matter. If you have intel to add, from either side, please feel free to leave relevant comments.

Case Closed?

Two men are in custody in connection with a burglary at the Los Angeles home of Rep. Karen Bass, D-Calif., Los Angeles police confirmed Wednesday. The two men, identified as 42-year-old Patricio Munoz and 24-year-old Juan Espinoza, were arrested Tuesday after detectives witnessed them getting into a vehicle that had been parked at Bass’ home during the Saturday burglary. That answers one question, but it still sounds pretty hinky.

What with L.A. being a self-identified “sanctuary city” ‘n all, dare I ask one more?

I Don’t Know Enough to Take Sides

KE Arms is fighting to defend itself from a shameful legal assault by GWACS Armory and Reed Oppenheimer, activist millionaire. They have racked up massive legal bills from the two years of lawsuit that have already passed, and with a trial scheduled for later this year the bills will only increase. If they are not able to see this through to completion, the KP-15 monolithic polymer lowers and the WWSD 2020 rifles along with them will disappear. [Watch]

I’ll stipulate up front I have no familiarity with these products, this situation, or any of the players and claims involved, and can’t foresee making an effort to find out more.

Pick a Side

@29 minutes in, Armed American Radio Daily Defense host Mark Walters talks about this WarOnGuns Placeholder piece by longtime correspondent Dave Licht.

I think I’ll do an article on this — just know that right now, there are already three in the queue ahead of it, so it’ll probably be a few days.

The Stuff that Dreams are Made Of

What Are Your “Dream Guns?” Pick Any Three And Tell Us About Them [More]

I have none. I’ve made no secret about that (see #5 from 2006).  I’m in it for the rights .

That doesn’t mean I haven’t had fun, and if I had to name with what, I’d probably say a Ruger New Model Super Blackhawk, an M1 Garand and a MAK 90.

I have tried to attain a level of proficiency in what I do own (not that I’m publicly admitting to having any) for my own safety and the safety of those around me, but the hardware has never been what animated me. I’m in it for the principle.

That’s why you’ll never see me presuming to do a “gun review.”  Like the saying goes, “A man’s gotta know his limitations,” and I’m not only not qualified, all those who know more than me, which is a lot of gun owners,  would quickly and correctly label me a fraud if I tried.

I’ve actually turned down businesses who wanted me to test machineguns and write about them, and people who wanted to send me ammo to test and write about. That’s just not who I am nor why I do this.

You Can Judge Some Books By Their Covers

They’re just as informative and gorgeously photographed on the inside.

I’ve written about both before:

I bring them up again here because author Jeff John, my longtime former editor at GUNS Magazine (we actually go back to GUNS & AMMO), released a revised and updated second edition of FG42, and he sent me hard copies of both, which I’d previously only seen in electronic form.

I’ve also told readers about The Matchless Enfield No. 4 (T) Sniper, blogged about Colours of the Queen’s Rangers, and on more than one occasion steered people over to Jeff’s website, Art in Arms Press, featuring “historical and contemporary firearm books & photography,” and more.

Consider carving out some time to spend over there, to appreciate artistry, craftsmanship, and history, and to get copies of Jeff’s books for yourself or a deserving friend or relative.

Taker’s Remorse

Outside of the store, shortly before 3 p.m., an adult male confronted the individual, brandished a weapon and demanded the AR-15. The individual handed over the assault-style rifle, but then went to a vehicle and retrieved another gun. A shootout ensued. [More]

They’re kind of keeping details about the participants close to the vest…

Turning the Tables?

Apparently, the artist originally wanted to ‘delve’ into the ‘unique and abysmal’ lives of gun owners in America, illustrating their fetishism with firearms… Oh sure, there are plenty of gun-grabbers shrieking and freaking out about these photos, but the number of Second Amendment enthusiasts and gun lovers LOVING the thread far outnumber them. [More]

Doesn’t matter. They’ve outed themselves and exposed themselves to whatever results from that.
