Two factors explain this discrepancy – one, misclassified shootings; and two, overlooked incidents. [More]
And in both cases it’s deliberate.

How to use what’s around you for a weapon [More]
Yep. Any chair.
Or assault lamp. Or…
Also, take note of how to get in and out.
Every good toolkit needs tools.
Just make sure you have the right one for the job.

As lawmakers debated how to place new restrictions on firearms, many Americans opted to show their support for the Second Amendment by purchasing a new gun. [More]
I wouldn’t automatically make that motivation assumption.

After the Brazilian government permitted the killing of motor cycle riders who rob & kill citizens – in order to put an end to this menace, this is what the citizens there are doing!!! When Law Enforcement do not do their job, citizens will… [Watch]
And no, I don’t know how true that is, but who doesn’t love a happy ending?
It’ll be a sad one if they put Lula back in power.

GOP Rep. Boebert: ‘Gun Rights Are Women’s Rights’ [More]
I’d say they’re human rights, but I have clearly never been raped…

Quite the bloodthirsty vigilante, isn’t he…?
“At that point, the person who appears to be being robbed takes out a knife, stabs the person with the gun. That individual is now deceased.” [More]
You can have all the gear and training in the world, but without the will to do what it takes you’ve got nothing.
Everybody knows about the Tueller drill, right? So I don’t need to give a link?

Is our justice system still capable of deterring killers? [More]
It never was.
What deters us from killing has always come from within. What deters killers is the same thing that deters all predators.
Is our justice system still capable of dealing with killers?
Increasingly the system results in anything but justice, and no, it’s up to the individual to have the means, the judgment, the training, the will, and the presence of mind afterward to not do or say anything to trigger the ever-dangerous state to turn on him.

Some Shortcomings of Open Carry [More]
He makes some good points.
So do some of his critics. The angry and rude hostility that comes out in some of the responses though, when people believe they are anonymous and therefore not accountable, makes me wonder how many behave like that face-to-face.
For the record: I have written to Mike DeWine and the two governors before him in my state, Ohio, to get the “Only Ones” trained to stop threatening and assaulting open carriers. But I don’t personally open carry for the same reason I won’t rack a shotgun slide to “scare away” an intruder.
In the examples the influential paper chose to highlight, the posters were not calling on initiating violence against their political opponents. They were calling on supporters of churches and pregnancy centers to defend themselves against violent attackers with mayhem on their minds. [More]
One of the violence monopolists’ go-to lies is conflating self-defense with vigilantism.
On Thursday, June 16, 2022, we were informed of the deaths of two former Hartford Public School students. This is an unfortunate and tragic incident, and we are deeply saddened by the loss of members of our Hartford Public Schools community. We are prepared to provide proper support and resources for students and staff affected by this tragedy. Our thoughts are with our former students’ families, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time. [More]

If the worst had happened, the choices the adults made would have led to it, starting with Utahns going to frickin’Canada and then taking those delicious meals into the woods with no way to protect them.
I took my little guys into the wilderness several times a year when they were growing up, places with bears, cougars, coyotes, rattlesnakes, and you name it, and would never have been able to forgive myself if I hadn’t been able to handle whatever might arise — as something did on one occasion.
I told my wife as a non-negotiable condition before we were married that there was only one order that I would ever give her, and that is if I told her to run, she would obey without argument. The reason is not just one of self-sacrifice, but also of survival. There are situations where total focus is required, and any presence that distracts from that reduces the chances to escape and/or prevail.
They got lucky.
The man in this video should have handed off the papoose, sent her and the kids on, and made sure that if he couldn’t dissuade it, the only person of interest would be him. He was utterly unprepared and incapable of carrying out the most sacred basic duty of a father.
I can imagine no worse hell to have to survive than William Petit’s.
