New York 3D Printer Control Bill is Tyrannical, Unworkable and Un-American

When the bill predictably fails to reduce New York homicides (because it’s focused on all the wrong things, like not on the criminals), look for new hysterical and pointless demands, like banning out-of-state sales, banning “straw purchases” of printers, banning printer parts, and blaming “red” states with “lax printer laws.” And let’s not forget banning possession of 3D printers by prohibited persons, to be expanded to anyone under a restraining order, on a watchlist, or “red-flagged,” followed by “may issue” permits for anyone else who wants one. You can’t cite the Founders out of one side of your mouth and then undermine everything they stood for out of the other. Well, you could if you’re a New York Democrat bragging about your foreign values…

  1. If you’ve ever been to a tractor pull, you’ve seen the part where the tractor is generating tons of horsepower, clouds of smoke, an earsplitting roar, tons of mud going everywhere, but not budging the sled an inch.

    Politicians are sometimes like that.

Follow Mr. Codrea’s link to his AmmoLand post, look for my comment, and you’ll find links to how you can build your very own 3D printer from a kit or from scratch.

      1. Consider yourself lucky. One of mine just shakes her head and smiles, the other thinks he must be adopted.

    1. Appologies.

It would appear that my aforementioned comment on AmmoLand is being moderated “with extreme prejudice.”

They take a dim view of supportive links over there and I guess putting 3 links in one comment set someone’s hair on fire.

Anyone who wants info on how to buy a 3D printer kit and complete it or build a range of simple to complicated printers from scratch should crank up their “google-fu” on the phrase “DIY 3D printer” and have at it.

One never knows when YouTube will decide something needs to be taken down to protect the public.

      1. I don’t see it pending or in the spam or trash folders. Post it here and I’ll ask them about it– I understand links may trigger scrutiny, but unless they are spam or malware I don’t know why this would happen.

On a related topic, what I wish they’d call out are off topic comments that hijack the conversastion being invited. See my “House Rules” in the WoG sidebar.
