The number of fatalities involving long arms of all types varies from year to year, but never gets higher than low single digits. Add a few to a very low number and you get a whopping increase in the percentage.
We’ll know they’re serious about “gun violence” if they ever start to address criminal misuse of handguns in “blue” cities.
Famous bank robber Willie Sutton was asked why he robbed banks. He responded “Because that’s where the money is.” In order to curb “gun violence” they’re going to have to go to where the “gun violence” is found and have a serious talk with young African American males in placed like the south side of Chicago.
Otherwise, they look a lot like the drunk searching for his keys under the street light instead of in the dark parking lot where he dropped them.
Quoting one of my favorite gun controllers, the late Sen. Howard Metzenbaum (D-OH) who was at least honest about his intentions: “I don’t care about crime, I just want to get the guns.”
