Nullification and non-compliance for the win! IL residents are just following the advice of Jefferson and Madison, albeit probably largely without knowing so thanks to our government school system.
Anyone else remember what happened when New York Sate mandated registration of those Black and Uglu guns? I beleive the number was less than three percent who had complied after a full year of the new normal” And I don’t think its improved much since then. The folks particularly in upstate NY simply didn’t bother. And since the state did ot have a list they could check twice, they had no way of nipping round and knocking up doors to demand compliance.
The ONLY suitable response to such tyranny is simply to ignore them. Yes, a few will find themselves wearing an orange onesie and looking out through some grey steel bars. But the vast majority will just wake up tomorrow morning to another day of the usual.
