Ordinarily, I’d agree unless deliberate indifference to known dangers could be demonstrated. We are generally responsible for our own defense. Still, statements against customers being armed don’t help discourage predators, although, in Florida, open carry outside of specifically defined limited circumstances still isn’t an option.

As for companies that disallow any kind of carry, I’d like to see more gun owners hand the manager this card and spread the word about his refusal to sign it:

I need to up my training. Not being a professional, my wife and I have been going to a wine-tasting fundraiser for a group we support for many years now, and I haven’t even come close to shooting myself, let alone her along with me.

And no, of course, I don’t agree with the ban. I just can’t help but notice she’d be happy to arrest us for “violating” citizen disarmament laws she agrees with.

I wonder if the “conservative” High Court’s Bruen decision with its “historical understanding” benchmark will end up saving her.

Austin Durrer, who has worked for Crist since 2016, was arrested Tuesday in Cambridge, Maryland, on second-degree assault charges in a case classified as “domestic violence,” according to Dorchester County court records obtained by Fox News Digital. Durrer was released on $10,000 bond after his arrest, and the court ordered him to surrender firearms and vacate his home. [More]

He’s Made His Bed

DeSantis creates illegal gun-free zone during Alachua fundraiser [More]

Someone should have gone armed and forced the issue, perhaps by calling the sheriff and issuing an on-the-spot complaint against private security violating Florida law.

Mark Walters and I talked about this, and we both agreed DeSantis had it in his power to make everything right. He had time to do just that and instead opted to hope nobody noticed and/or the ones that didn’t wouldn’t be showstoppers.

That he did not rectify things should be considered a huge strike against him. It’s curious that none of his starry-eyed supporters wanted to reply:

It sounds cute, and I’m seeing no shortage of this sentiment (NSFW), but I have to ask: What instructions has he given his deputies if that’s what they find when they show up?

I ask because with DGU trainers advising “Shoot to stop” and ambitious prosecutors ready to bring anything that looks like deliberate overkill in front of a grand jury to make an example, I’m thinking this is about as advisable as Joe Biden telling us to shoot off the balcony and through the door.

Only the “Only Ones” get to “empty the clip,” and that’s mostly so that one or two rounds might hit the intended target.
