Why were those 10 citizens chosen? What do they have that “we” don’t? Or more to the point, what do we also have that they do? [More]
Why, when there’s an easy way, does the “pro-gun” DOJ so often choose the hard way?

It’s with an eye toward determining how these 10 choices were selected for DOJ’s initial offering that prompted this FOIA request. [More]
Let’s see if the new, improved “Second Amendment Task Force” DOJ will be any better at responding to these things than it was under the Biden regime.

What wasn’t included was where DOJ gets the authority to create a permanent entry to NICS without a conviction or other disqualifier as defined by law. They’re still not saying. [More]
Try stonewalling when they want information and see where that gets you.

Seems what I was asking for was simple enough for an honest agency to comply with…
It reminds me of the DOJ snot who coined the term me ‘n the boys proudly embrace:
In short, there is a tangled web of connections between a small cadre of firearms activists and their efforts to recover fees through largely unsuccessful FOIA litigation.
Yeah, that’s why we do it.
It also brings up a suggestion I’ve been making of late:
Imagine now the Department of Justice under an actual Second Amendment advocate, and what it could do fighting infringements and prohibitionist lawfare waged by states with unlimited tax war chests in tandem with Astroturf prohibitionist groups funded by antigun elites. Right now, the costs to defend against these innumerable assaults on all levels are borne by gun rights groups and members of mostly modest means who can only support a fraction of what is needed. That equation could be turned on its head.

With Hunter Biden’s court record and the pardon, the government cannot credibly evade a responsive production of documents with claims it has used in the past. [More]
My prediction: They’ll try to stall. Then we get to see what Bondi is really made of.

At about 4:50 in, they talk about the FOIA request appeal.

That all that was produced was copies of non-responsive CFR sections makes it fair to surmise such information will not be voluntarily provided because it cannot be provided. [More]
Ask a simple question — get no answer…

“This raises the questions of why the shipment was delayed and why it was completed so soon after that was reported,” the request notes. [More]
Funny, how quickly the shipment was back on track once postal inspectors were told there was a “missing” AR-15 in their system…
Secret Service destroyed video of Biden’s dog Commander biting agent in brutal attack that forced White House to stop tours so blood could be wiped off the floor… The Secret Service’s Freedom of Information Act Officer Kevin Tyrrell wrote to DailyMail.com in a letter Friday that ‘Due to Secret Service retention standards, the above mentioned file(s) has been destroyed.’ [More]
Wait a sec…Commander attacked the agent in June 2023…?
What are the Secret Service’s records retention “standards”?
Are they different from three years? Did anybody get a copy of the policy and see who authorized it and when? Are there records of who authorized (ordered) the destruction, and did it come before or after the FOIA request?
Kevin Tyrell, eh? Should I be worrying about that affidavit he sent me swearing they had no info on agancy involvement with the Hunter Biden gun incident?

New Jersey Mayors Want the Power To Sue You For Asking Too Many Questions – A bill backed by the Conference of Mayors would let courts issue restraining orders when people “harass” officials with information requests. [More]
And just look at that list of New Jersey mayors…
They’re not the only ones complaining:

After all, who works for whom…?

Was Humiliating Navy Rifle Photo Actually Photoshopped? [More]
If so, by whom, and why did the Navy put it up in the first place?
Others with more knowledge of such things than me (I’m a rights guy, not a hardware guy) are also pointing out disparities in rail spacing and the like.
I may look into doing a FOIA request.
It worked with the Air Force to get Sutherland Springs shooter court martial records, although I did have to sue them…

Does the DOJ have the power to create new classes of “prohibited persons” outside of what is statutorily defined? [More]
First they said they had no pages. Now they say they have 350. So what’s on those pages, and will any establish they are authorized to redefine”prohibited person” disqualifiers?
I got a series of emails from the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife regarding my Freedom of Access Act request for documentation leading to the decision to cancel an “AR rifles” safety class.
It looks like the sent me a lot of what I asked for but I’ll be going through everything this weekend to see and then writing a follow-up report.

Who the DOJ is partnering with and how their activities are lawful in light of the Supreme Court’s latest ruling on the Second Amendment are of particular interest. [More]
I don’t think anyone’s ever asked them to provide documents showing how they figure their actions are consistent with Bruen before.
GOP senator rips Biden’s ‘gun-grabbing’ DOJ for taking nearly 2 years to answer for controversial policy – Sen Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, first wrote the ATF in 2022 demanding answers on its ‘knock and talk’ policy [More]
I just got an unresponsive response to a FOIA request I made in 2015.
I’ll be talking about that after I decide what I’m going to do about it.

The only way this will change is if Republicans manage to not blow the elections, and then to start keeping the campaign promises that had no chance of passing when they made them.
