Winning

Grass Roots North Carolina and gun rights supporters made history today. Senate Bill 41 cleared its final hurdle and will become law after both chambers of the North Carolina General Assembly voted to override Governor Roy Cooper’s veto. SB 41 is the first override of a Cooper veto since 2018 and the first-ever override of a vetoed gun bill in North Carolina. [More]

Overriding Governor Roy Cooper’s Veto

Today, Governor Roy Cooper vetoed Senate Bill 41, to repeal our Jim Crow-era pistol purchase permit law and to facilitate parishioners in defending churches against violent sociopaths.

Said GRNC president Paul Valone:

“As we predicted, anti-freedom Governor Roy Cooper wasted no time attacking the rights of gun owners. Worse, he attacked the ability of church-goers to protect themselves from attacks on religious institutions that are becoming all too common.

“It will be with great pleasure that GRNC will work to over-ride his veto of SB 41. Given that the bill passed by veto-proof supermajorities in both chambers of the legislature, we have every confidence that we will deliver defeat to his doorstep.”

Two Steps Forward

Grass Roots North Carolina won a major legislative victory today, as Senate Bill 41 – including both the church carry and pistol purchase permit repeal – passed in the NC House by a veto-proof majority. The bill now goes to the anti-gun Governor Roy Cooper, who will likely veto the bill within the 10 days allotted. [More]

It’ll be interesting to see how he spins opposing the representatives of the people.

New Name, Same Role

You will never go broke betting on the hypocrisy of the left. In this case, the NAACP, NC Black Alliance and other advocacy groups claiming to represent Black Americans are backing (if you can believe this) a Jim Crow law. [More]

That’s because leftist advocacy issues will always take a back seat to the greater goal of securing a totalitarian monopoly of violence.

Besides, remember who the drivers were.

Not the Last Rung

Senate Bill 41 containing both repeal of our archaic Jim Crow-era pistol purchase permit law and the provision to allow concealed carry in churches which sponsor schools passed the NC Senate today by an overwhelming margin of 29-19. [More]

Now is no time to relax the pressure. In the words of Yogi Berra, it ain’t over ’til it’s over.

A Right Deliberately Delayed

Grass Roots North Carolina, the state’s primary gun rights group, announced this morning that it is preparing a second lawsuit against Mecklenburg County Sheriff Garry McFadden over continued delays in concealed handgun permits. [More]

In-your-face defiance merits an in-your-face response.

Garry’s too busy trying to make like a TV star. You gotta wonder if any homicides could have been deterred.

Help Wanted, Inquire Within

[L]eftist and former NC Supreme Court Chief Justice Cheri Beasley, if elected to the U.S. Senate, has admitted she would “be the 51st vote to end the filibuster…” And if Beasley is allowed to cast a vote ending the filibuster, the ban on semi-automatic firearms Democrats have been trying to pass, as well as universal gun registration (aka “universal background checks”) will become law shortly thereafter. [More]

So what will NC gun owners do about that?

GRNC Alert

The legislature passed SB43 (Church Carry) last session, but Governor Roy Cooper reflexively vetoed it. In light of new, known threats to churches it is imperative you take the necessary action to bring SB43 (Church Carry) back for a veto override vote. [More]

If you’re from North Carolina, why not take a second here…?

A Right Delayed

[Charlotte] In response to litigation filed by Grass Roots North Carolina (GRNC) and Gun Owners of America (GOA) over delays in handgun permits, a Superior Court judge last month issued a preliminary injunction enjoining Mecklenburg County Sheriff Garry McFadden from further delays. [More]

Good. I figured with four stars and more stripes on his sleeve than a fleet admiral, this important guy’s will was martial law…
