Not-So Hidden Agenda

Rep. Wesley Hunt (R-TX) introduced the Second Amendment Restoration Act on November 12, 2025, launching a direct assault on the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act signed by President Joe Biden in June 2022. [More]

Prognosis 1% chance of being enacted

Methinks this is just a backdoor way to remind gunvoters of Cornyn’s treason and give boost to Ken Paxton’s challenge next year.

A Matter of Degree?

Critics accuse Cornyn of capitulating to Democrats’ gun control demands — even though the bill largely did not restrict gun owner’s existing rights. [More]

Is “not largely” restricting rights like being a little bit pregnant?

The current is either on or off. How much current there is does not alter that.

Nor does equivocation. Because once you flip that switch, you allow for turning the dial.

Spoiler Alert?

“There never was, and never will be, a tenable pathway for Hunt,” they said in the memo. “It’s time for the vanity project that could cost Republicans control of the Senate and dilute our resources to end.” [More]

I dunno– Cornyn is a weasel gun owners will stay home over and Paxton comes with exploitable scandals.

Why don’t they drop out and the Republicans throw everything they’ve got behind a guy who actually gets it?

It Depends Upon What the Meaning of the Term ‘Major Victory’ Is

GOP Lawmakers Might Be Poised to Score a Major Second Amendment Victory [More]

If you call further codifying permits for rights as the national standard, continued state infringements, and salvaging deservedly tarnished reputations a “major victory”…

Not that it will pass. Or not be tied up in courts until the pendulum swings back to Democrats.

Much Ado About Nothing

Cornyn and senators tell ATF director no new policies before Trump takes over [More]

They know any new rule will require a comment period extending into the new administration, which can kill it, but it’s a way to make gun owners think they’re doing something for them.

But enforce existing Intolerable Acts, right, Mr. Bipartisan Safer Communities Act?

Survey SAYS…

Last week, U.S. Sen. John Cornyn lost his bid to be the chamber’s majority leader. The next day, he announced his intention to seek reelection to the Senate in 2026. We asked readers if they would support him if the Texas GOP primary election were held today. Here is a sampling of the comments we received from our readers after they voted in the survey. [More]

By all accounts he should be finished. If he’s not, it’s on Texas Republican voters.

Rush to Name Senate Majority Leader Betrays Gun Owners and MAGA Voters

Can we at least have some time for public input on something that can profoundly affect us all before sneaking this through? [More]

Republicans once more snatching defeat from the jaws of victory… will any gun owners object to all three being unsuitable “choices”?

Senate Majority Leader Procedural Question

I normally don’t post on weekends but need this info for a possible article and am at a loss in searching for an answer.

Thune, Cornyn, and Scott are all part of the Swamp. How is it they’re the only ones up for vote consideration?

Is it just who declares themself to be a candidate and they were the only ones who did? And is it too late to publicly call for another name?

Speaking of Vigorous Efforts

US Court of Appeals for Fifth Circuit (TX, LA) has issued a ruling upholding the 2022 federal law requiring additional background checks for 18-20 year olds. [Watch]

And Mark W. Smith reminds us we can “Thank John Cornyn.

I’d suggest taking that grade down a notch or two, but last time I did that resulted in some ruffled feathers.
