Shaking the Foundation

These bylaw changes removed the republic-like representation that members had on the Foundation board. Since these changes were never made public, what’s that say to the donor who thought their money would be looked after at the Foundation by mostly NRA directors? (At least one donor did ask the Foundation about bylaw changes and who serves as trustees on the Foundation board prior to this lawsuit was filed and that donor/NRA member was ignored.) [More]

If this in-your-face transparency obstruction doesn’t bother you, go ahead and support them. You know what they say.

They’re incoporated in DC, which does not require Bylaws to be filed.

IRS does, however, albeit “they may only represent the original version filed at that time,” meaning changes may not be accessible. I’d suggest filing one of these just in case, but this is John’s story, I don’t want to step on toes, and for all I know he did and I missed where he reported on that.

Tearing Down Stone Walls in the Garden State

The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms today announced that Board of Directors member and journalist John Petrolino has filed a suit against New Jersey officials over repeat records request denials. While CCRKBA is not a party to this case, we stand by Director Petrolino as he works to increase transparency in the Garden State. [More]

So, the New Jersey State Police “Only Ones” don’t want to follow the law…? What would they do if you didn’t answer their questions?

Here’s the complaint.

The Plot Thickens

NRA Foundation Changed Bylaws to Cut NRA BOD Out of Governance [More]

I was wondering why the bylaws were so hard to find.

It certainly reduces incentive for any member to donate a dime to Foundation efforts. Especially if its name is forced to change.

Anybody know if the Board is going to establish a replacement fundraising arm securely under its control, or is the aim to wrest control of the Foundation?

Forget lack of transparency– they’re being deliberately obfuscatory, which means any NRA member supporting their efforts is asking for more of what allowed the whole mess in the first place.

Here’s the 2022 990. And I looked them up in DC Corporations and what’s there doesn’t tell us much.

Anybody got a copy of the Foundation bylaws?

Some of us have been noticing shaky foundations for some time, including Nicholas at 2A White Rook, who has been asking questions of people who don’t want to answer.

John Petrolino peels back some layers and shows us we’ve been right to raise concerns.
