‘Good’ Gun Control?

Today we discuss SB 2710, which goes into effect July 1 of this year. This law will add significant penalties for underage individuals who are possessing and using firearms to commit crimes. The bill will so target those that are unlawfully supplying firearms to underage individuals. Could this law be the blueprint for other states that are actually trying to stem their violence problem rather than just disarm their citizens? [Watch]

Here’s the bill.

I have no problem with crimes of violence being escalated to adult consequences, and with that crime being what is prosecuted.

Possession and “sensitive area” charges raise some concerns for me. What do text, history, and tradition have to say about young people and those?

Asking for Posterity…

And concerned that all the comment posters are giving full-throated approval without asking about downsides…

So, by definition, a leftist. And “Pagan”: Talk about an aptronym!

What did Father Flanagan say?

How do they find this crap? It’s not like there’s a TikTok page… I grok this stuff as much as I do crypto

Case in Points

“A juvenile with no points discharged a firearm at a police officer,” Frisz said. “They were later apprehended. That juvenile had no points. That’s only 12 points under their point system.” [More]

I’m just surprised nobody’s screaming that’s racist because points are disproportionately assigned.

We’re the Only Ones Misrepresenting Enough

“Today our city is grieving the loss of a 15-year-old boy whose life was taken by gun violence,” Akron Police Chief Brian Harding said in a statement. [More]

With this dolt in charge of law enforcement, no wonder the city of my birth continues to devolve into $#!+holedom.

That said, I’m not sure about how true that “enemy of my enemy” assertion is…
