Stranger in a Strange Land

I used to call it “home,” but “thanks” to “redistricting,” that home is now in the solidly Democrat 13th Congressional District instead of the solidly Republican 14th, as the demographics in each show.

I used to complain about Dave Joyce being a GOP lump. At least he’s not a “rising star” like Emilia Sykes, whose Congressional Black Caucus-sponsored ads relied heavily on accusations of Republicans being “white supremacists trying to steal our votes.”

“Taxation without representation” used to be a call for resistance. I’m taxed up the wazoo and it’s certainly not me she’s representing.

A divided U.S. appeals court on Monday upheld the dismissal of a lawsuit against Remington Arms over a trigger defect in one of its rifles that allegedly led to the accidental shooting death in 2011 of an 11-year-old boy by his 15-year-old brother in Mississippi. [More]

Yeah, I know, all guns are always loaded, and never point one at anything you’re not willing to destroy, but if the trigger really was defective and the gun really was prone to firing spontaneously, this sounds like they won one they should have lost and surrendered one they should have won.

I maintained a WogRoll at the old Blogspot place predicated on reciprocity with like-minded RKBA-related sites. Truth be told, I never got much in terms of site visits to make the effort worth the time. About “The Only Ones”

So named from a comment by DEA agent Lee Paige, who told a classroom full of kids he was “the only one” qualified to be armed and then promptly shot himself in the foot, the purpose of this feature has never been to bash cops. The only reason I do this is to amass a credible body of evidence to present when those who would deny our right to keep and bear arms use the argument that only government enforcers are professional and trained enough to do so safely and responsibly. And it’s also used to illustrate when those of official status, rank, or privilege, both in law enforcement and in some other government position, get special breaks not available to we commoners, particularly (but not exclusively) when they’re involved in gun-related incidents.
