Recently, Fred Edgecomb, who has been affiliated with both the NRA and its state affiliate, the NC Rifle & Pistol Assoc., was heard claiming credit for passing Senate Bill 41 to repeal NC purchase permits and expand concealed carry into churches sponsoring schools. GRNC members should understand that neither NRA nor NCRPA had any apparent role in passing SB 41. NRA lobbyist DJ Spiker only showed up at the last minute, and we are unaware of any significant action by NCRPA. In truth, it was GRNC volunteers who sent alerts, packed committee meetings, walked legislative hallways, and deluged legislators with input. [More]

That makes it fair to ask why Kevin McCarthy, the beneficiary of an A+ rating and endorsement from the National Rifle Association’s Political Victory Fund, is reportedly going out of his way to raise major bucks for someone who is undermining everything about the Second Amendment we’re told he believes in. Expect Cotton, Coy, and LaPierre to tell NRA members at the Members’ Meeting in Indianapolis on April 15 that everything is going great, that “your NRA” is strong and effective, and that they expect to hand NY AG Letitia James a resounding defeat in court soon. Then expect the Board, on the following Monday, to approve the bylaw amendment allowing Cotton to serve another term as President, followed closely by his “unanimous” reelection to that office.
