Barring unforeseen upheaval, I give Ohio 10 years to go solid blue. And our “gun rights leaders” will have played a big part in that.

Based on reports from the May 2026 Ohio primary, there is no evidence that Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose refused to verify Vivek Ramaswamy’s win or questioned his legal citizenship.

Nothing to say about the main event?

I have.

In a way, the silence is a positive– it may show the leadership is aware of member sentiment, that not all are kneejerk swallowing the establishment line, and that they want to keep their options open.

Plain Talk, Long Overdue

I spoke with him in detail a few days back and submitted the results of our talk to Firearms News. My editor tells me it will be online either today or tomorrow and has gotten in under the wire to make the print version, going to press Monday and should in subscriber mailboxes/on news stands for several days before the primary.

I didn’t really know that much about him or what to expect in terms of how deeply and sincerely he would walk the talk, but I gotta say, my conclusion is we’re dealing with the real deal, we’re dealing with someone who doesn’t need to put himself out there for all the crap he’ll have to put up with, and we’re dealing with someone we’ll be damn fortunate to have in office, especially after enduring the wretched likes of Kass-Itch and the bipolar Mike DeWine.

Add in Vivek Ramaswamy declaring ““The idea of a heritage American is about as loony as anything the woke left has actually put up” while working to bring in a demographic that is 83% anti-gun, and readers here know how I feel about that.

If you’re an Ohio (or any other state) gun owner who agrees with me, you’ve gotta see what’s in it for you by spreading the word, getting out the vote, and supporting his campaign with much-needed donations. (I just made out a check he’ll get next week because of the Win-Red processing fee. And in the interest of disclaimers/disclosures, I hadn’t made up my mind to do this until after I’d submitted the mag article for publication.)

Unfortunately, he didn’t answer any of our questions. Realizing that political campaigns can be all consuming, Firearms News will issue an update if he does.

That said, I expect I’ll vote for Putsch in the primary, although based on my track record at picking political winners, candidates probably shouldn’t want me to.

I’d feel better if his platform actually mentioned what I consider to be the most important indicator for freedom– yeah, I see the photo when you scroll to the bottom of him with a Fudd gun, but some of us need more than that.
