This morning, we investigated a suspicious item that resembled a possible explosive device. Our bomb squad responded and safely removed the object. For more information, click the link below. [More]
That reminds me of the time I had to go down to the local courthouse. I carry one of these because I’ve had rare occasions when I needed it, and when I put it in the tray to go through the metal detector, the “trained security professional” asked me if it was pepper spray!
I’m not sure which was worse– him asking or just believing me when I said “No” without verifying it.

The head of the State Police has informed troopers fired for failing to get COVID shots that their permits to carry firearms will be “expired” as of next week. [More]
You can let us give you a shot or you can get shot by someone else. You think it’s a Massachussetts thing (no offense to the relatively few remaining Patriots)?
Can you imagine being Col. Christopher Mason and putting your name on something so unAmerican and contemptible? I’ve never had a job I figured it was worth being evil to keep.
Looks like he’s got the same Sonny Boy issues Joe Biden has with Hunter. Maybe when a father is corrupted by power such outcomes are inevitable.
This looks like a case a “gun rights” group would want to jump on.
[Via Remarks]
The issuance of such permits is part of Brown’s job. And he has a reputation for being relatively stingy in issuing them, compared to most of the other 57 sheriffs in California. [More]
Tell me about it. Talk about a blast from the past!
Or better yet, tell NRA. They never did explain themselves.

How do they know she’s a woman? Are they biologists?
And when you think about it, Ketanji made our point for us.

Found this old gem looking for something else…

“If there’s kids in there, we need to go in”: Officers in Uvalde were ready with guns, shields and tools — but not clear orders [More]
Breach the door? Stop the threat? Save the children?
What would the right magic incantation have been?
I see the transcripts have been reviewed. Is anybody doing the same with bodycams?

Mayor Adams, NYPD already retreating from solo patrol plan in transit system after cop’s assault in Brooklyn: Exclusive [More]
While unarmed citizens have to travel solo at all hours with no “Only Ones” in sight.
I need to stop being amazed that absolute incompetents can rise to positions of political power and public prestige in this country, sometimes with a boost from surprising quarters.
And sometimes with a boost from the usual suspects turning a selective blind eye.

Court Rules Virtue-Signaling Minneapolis Mayor Failed to Protect Citizens With Enough Cops [More]
Wake me when the court rules those cops have a duty to protect.
[Via Michael G]
The explicit part of that puzzle came two weeks back when the high court ruled that a Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officer—who allegedly assaulted the owner of a bed and breakfast and then sent the IRS after him for lodging a complaint—cannot be sued for violating the First and Fourth Amendments. This overturned a lower court decision that came to the opposite conclusion and etched in stone that immigration agents are, in some sense, above the law. [More]
Well, how else are we going to have a tyranny if enforcers aren’t allowed to tyrannize? Besides, it’s not like they’re out there repelling foreign invaders.
And remember, “conservatives”: Back the Blue (or in this case, green)!

Sorry Ukraine, Miami Police Gun Buyback was Complete Bust [More]
Instead of backing down after being told it was illegal, they doubled down on deception.
I wonder if the officer who was candid about being hung out to dry will get in trouble…
Former Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputy Zachary Wester will spend the next 12 years in prison, after being found guilty of planting drugs on multiple motorists. [More]
This is another one of those stories that makes me rethink my aversion to public crucifixions. And in this case, they do call him “a mighty man of God”…

True, but we’re still talking ab0ut an “Only Ones” culture. Don’t expect anyone to publicly consider armed citizens to be anything but part of the problem.

In his living room, in front of a Tampa Bay Lightning meeting, a supporter had a funny misadventure. [More]
SWATted him. Ha ha. Then he’d have been the one on ice.
It’s not like “Only Ones” aren’t extra cautious in “domestic disputes,” with the Number One Priority being to make it home at the end of their shift.
It’s not like people haven’t been shot and killed as a result.

Mayor Eric Adams insisted Monday he’s not worried about police officers leaving the NYPD in droves this year — declaring that being a Big Apple cop is an “amazing career,” and that the departures present a chance to “diversify” the force. [More]
Constitutional scholars all, no doubt.
But first, they’ll have some racist policies to make more inclusive.

“Worst case is some dude’s barricaded internal doors, has got like, [ … ] steel hollow core shit going on … this weird … in his house because he’s a weirdo and a prepper and a threeper that hates cops and he’s trying to suck you in and kill you, right?” [More]
I’m a Threeper as Mike Vanderboegh defined it. And what’s wrong with preppers?
More to the point, what’s right with jackbooted thug attitudes?
Nearly six hundred thousand dollars in taxes, fees, and fines collected by the Caldwell Parish Sheriff’s Office was never deposited into a government bank account, a new state audit reports. And auditors say they found evidence that the employee in charge of overseeing the collection and accounting of those public funds actually spent years stealing the money. [More]
