Bullet Points

“Another Backdoor Attempt at Registration” – GOA on Ammunition Background Checks [Watch]

I see the Newsmax hostess is a little uneasy with the prospect of NO prior restraints/confiscation enabling. If they need convincing, imagine the mindset of the general public that has only been exposed to the DSM.

Who are the Democrats and what is the name of the bill?

It would help if there was a corresponding post on GOA’s website identifying it by number and sponsor so we could see what it says and also check Govtrack for a prognosis on odds of enactment and the need to prioritize and spend energy on it now.

Most of the stuff I’m seeing coming from both sides is pre-midterms posturing to spook respective low-information herds.

Demotivated

Republicans are trying to diagnose suppressed rural turnout, too. Ryan Girdusky, a Republican political consultant, “blamed the results on messaging by the GOP that didn’t appeal to rural voters,” POLITICO reported. “Trump’s success in exciting those voters, he said, showed that they are motivated by issues such as crime, immigration, homelessness and education.” [More]

Who could have ever known that fire in bellies is what drives the engine?

Certainly not the “leadership”…

At this rate, Arizona won’t lead the pack for long.

And my, oh, my, I could swear I’ve been repeatedly told over the years by people with a lot more reach than I have that this is no concern for “single issue” gun groups…

Funny thing–none of them will take the challenge.

Short Story

S. 4986: A bill to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to remove short-barreled rifles, short-barreled shotguns, and certain other weapons from the definition of firearms for purposes of the National Firearms Act, and for other purposes. [More]

Seeing if he gets more than five cosponsors will be a good indicator of which Republicans really are “staunch supporters of the Second Amendment.”

That said, if they don’t take the Senate this is going nowhere, and introducing it now strikes me more as a pre-election publicity stunt than anything– even with Marshall’s term not ending until ’27, this still draws attention to the GOP and co-sponsor Crapo is running now.

Sorry to be so cynical, but I can’t figure out any other explanation.

Speaking of Disturbingly Persistent Ideas…

“Elegant and important essay by @RepRaskin debunking the disturbingly persistent idea that the 2nd Am gives citizens the right to take up arms against the government.” [More]

For being an “LATimes Legal Affairs Columnist. Former US Attorney, DOJ official. Teach con law at UCSD& UCLA” you’d think this f***ing idiot would know the Second Amendment doesn’t “give” any rights.

As for Marxist weasel Raskin, the rotten fruit doesn’t fall far from the corrupt tree.

It’s funny that the Democratic Underground uses a web archive link to avoid the NYT paywall. It’s dangerous that no one there understands the basics of the most egalitarian power-sharing arrangement ever devised.

We Have Top Men Working On It Right Now

I wanted to reach out and let you know that experts from the Western States Center, one of the nation’s premier organizations working to counter political extremism and violence, has experts tracking the upcoming January 6th hearing in Congress this week, and the start of the seditious conspiracy trial against five members of the Oath Keepers including Stuart Rhodes. Can they spell his name right?

Top…men.

Chuck Norris endorses Hung Cao in the 10th district [More]

It’d be nice, Mr. Cao, if in addition to the few statements that have been picked up by the media you would talk about guns knowledgeably on your campaign website, where there is but one brief and hard-to-find mention. Add to that ignoring VCDL’s candidate survey, and it’ll take more than a  say-nothing poster to ignite a fire in gun owner bellies.

The thing is, even keeping your head down, Virginia Democrats are still attacking you full force on guns, so what do you have to lose by standing up for what they’ll accuse you of regardless? This is your chance to use the bully pulpit to educate and lead, which is presumably what you’re trying to do here.

VA Dems, huh? Those are the same gun-grabbers Rob and Grant’s pal Jorge helps to eviscerate the rights of their customers.
