A Step in the Right Direction

U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on Wednesday reversed course and selected David Warrington as his top White House lawyer… [More]

He’s Chairman of the Board for the National Foundation for Gun Rights.

Let’s hope he’s the needed counterweight to Pam Bondi’s inclination to defend infringements.

Asked and Answered

But the Second Amendment isn’t an inkblot on the Constitution. It means something. Can that possibly not include a right to own the gun that claims to be America’s bestselling rifle? [More]

Is it an arm?

Then the right of the people to keep and bear it shall not be infringed.

Anyone who says otherwise is just a liar.

DOJ Proposal Suggests Unauthorized Use of NICS for NY Ammo Background Checks

So, if the FBI and DOJ don’t have authority to do ammunition checks, where do they get authority to allow New York State to use NICS for that purpose? [More]

Made possible by GOP Quislings, so will Republicans do anything to clean up their mess after they assume power in January?

A Right Delayed

There comes a point where it’s simply unbelievable to say that judges actually think that way and aren’t perfectly aware of the tyranny they’re willing parts of.

We’re the Only Ones Appreciative Enough

“I understand constitutional carry and why it would be okay in some parts of Louisiana, but you can’t say that is true for New Orleans,” Kirkpatrick said. I’m a person who appreciates constitutional carry but not in every location. New Orleans is unique. We have no business with guns at a parade or in our entertainment areas at all.” [More]

Bringing the same results to New Orleans she did to Oakland, I see…

Only in government is suing your previous employer not a red flag for hiring managers…

‘Deceptively Colored Firearm’ Bill Introduced by Deceptive Michigan Democrats

Where she may have gone too far without realizing it in her hatred of all things, gun is who will be most affected by her cosmetics ban. Those include a large bloc of potential Democrat constituents. [More]

They’ll never stop eating away until they’re forced to. There’s a way to do that, but it will require the new DOJ meaning what Donald Trump says.

By All Means, Be Consistent

Overview of the Ohio case on illegal aliens and firearm possession… What I am suggesting is that we need to be philosophically consistent on these things. [Watch]

Absolutely. All people have rights endowed by their Creator that they should be free to exercise.

That’s not the issue. They don’t have a right to be where they have no right to be. The law needs to be consistent with the Preamble’s unequivocal mandates and Democrat political sabotage needs to be reversed.

Instead of chasing a red herring, ask the right question: Why is a known illegal alien allowed to remain in the United States instead of being deported?

Round 2 Redux

Today on Armed American Radio Mark continues the conversation started yesterday with David Codrea on Pam Bondi and her 2A chops or lack thereof. Is she right for gun owners as head of DOJ after her support for Florida’s post Parkland gun control bill? [Listen]

In case you missed it live and want to hear it.

Here’s Round 1.

And my elaborated thoughts on what Donald Trump’s election means for the Second Amendment are here.

An Uncommon Question

I. There is a long-running and intractable dispute in the lower courts over whether the Second Amendment allows the government to ban arms that are in common use by law-abiding citizens. II. Heller clearly teaches that arms in common use by law-abiding citizens cannot be banned. III. This case is an ideal vehicle to resolve this dispute. [More]

What’s to stop “common use” from allowing future developments to be banned?

Daily Defense Redux

Today on AAR Daily Defense, Mark chats with long-time AAR contributor, blogger, and citizen journalist, David Codrea. Topics include the makeup of the Trump cabinet from a gun rights perspective. Mark and David discuss bills likely to move quickly…or not…and then turn attention to Pam Bondi for AG. David is no fan and eloquently articulates the reasons why, including her past support for anti-gun measures in Florida as state AG. Mark counters with analogies and gives her the benefit of waiting out the hearings. She will no doubt be put on the spot during the confirmation process and allowed to articulate her 2A positions moving forward as AG. A lively discussion, so good in fact, that David returns on Wednesday to wrap up his legitimate concerns. [Listen]

My latest Firearms News piece, “Donald Trump and Republicans Owe Gun Owners, and It’s Time to Collect,” elaborates on my position.

Donald Trump and Republicans Owe Gun Owners, and It’s Time to Collect

There’s much Donald Trump won’t be able to do, but a lot that he can if he means to keep his pledge to the gun owners he could not have won without. Rein in ATF, Mr. President. Do what you can with your bully pulpit to influence American citizens and your unique power to influence your party and the Congress. Make informed judicial appointments. Listen to gun rights leaders. And task the Justice Department with the Constitutional imperative to “secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity.” [More]

Now is not the time to rest on laurels and trust that everything is going to start going our way. If we don’t stay on top of him — and them — Pam Bondi won’t be the only disappointment.

The Heckler’s Veto

It’s literally 99.9999 or something like that of the AR-15s in America will have no connection to a murder in any given year, in other words well over 99.9 % of the AR-15s in the United States will have no connection to criminality in the United States in any given year, so if you’re going to have the government ban the 99.99% of the AR-15s in the United States because of a few hundred bad apples misbehaving with AR-15s you have engaged in a violation of our constitutional rights known as the Heckler veto… [Watch]

Good points. It sounds like you could make a good case that of all the people who heard Donald Trump speak on Jan. 6, only a handful ignored his call to be peaceful and got rowdy to the point of striking out at others, and that shouldn’t abridge his First Amendment-protected rights.

As an aside, I know speaking is different thatn writing in terms of not being able to go back and edit remarks before they’re released, but I hope in the future he’s mindful to say “killed with” more and “killed by” less.
