Blame Apportioning

A Galveston, Texas, jury on Monday found the parents of a teenager who shot and killed 10 classmates at Santa Fe High School in 2018 not liable for the violence, ending an unusual civil trial. Family members of the shooting victims and survivors accused Antonios Pagourtzis and Rose Kosmetatos of being negligent in allowing their son, Dimitrios, to obtain weapons from their home and for not warning school officials or police about his deteriorating mental state. [More]

It’s a sure bet the sick little coward who didn’t have the guts to kill himself can’t make good on the $330M. And prior settlement or no, I wouldn’t want to own Lucky Gunner about now…

Curious– the people who mandate gun-free zone killing fields have no liability.

Special Interests Combine to Block Release of Nashville Killer’s ‘Manifesto’: Why?

Her parents knew she posed a serious danger to herself, to them, and to others. [More]

It’s no coincidence that ignoring reality, and who knew what, works in their interests — and against ours.

Arm the Teachers?

Moran, a 59-year-old teacher at Mason Clark Middle School, made the statement on May 9 to another teacher, saying he “ought to bring a gun to school and shoot them all in the name of God.” He was allegedly referring to the students. [More]

I’d be interested to know what triggered him.

I’m also wondering how strongly I’d fight a proposal to add Democrat public school teachers to the “prohibited persons” list…

Crossing the Finnish Line

A 12-year-old student opens fire at a school in Finland, killing 1 and wounding 2 others [More]

But…but…but they have background checks and licensing and registration and everything

Coincidentally, I’ve been working on a Finland piece for Firearms News following the announcement that they were opening more ranges due to tensions with Russia — just consulted with an authority on the laws there and hope to have an article published soon.

Tales Out of School

On Jan. 6, 2023, one of Zwerner’s first-grade students pulled a gun from his front hoodie pocket and fired a single round at Zwerner … In her lawsuit, Zwerner asserts that the school division’s negligence allowed the shooting to happen and alleges the assistant principal ignored several warnings the boy had a gun that day. [More]

An adult had reason to believe a six-year-old was armed and did not immediately go and personally find out and take care of it, and now the taxpayers are subsidizing his cowardice.

I wonder if a sufficient number of Americans will ever grok what they’re allowing public schools to do to their children — and to them — while they foot the bills.

Revealing Truth Forbidden Under Punishment of Law

Judge Overseeing Case to Release Covenant Killer Manifesto Warns of Contempt If Parties ‘Usurp’ Sealed Materials [More]

What filthy politics must be in play for this to even be an issue on as story of such public importance that’s being exploited to ratchet down on our rights?

If I had the information, I’d defy this robed tyrant in an instant and protect my sources to the end.

We’re the Only Ones Schooling Enough

West Virginia Senate OKs bill to allow veterans, retired police to provide armed security in schools [More]

It’s still way too “Only Oneish” for me. Character and judgment don’t change just because you cross an artificial prioerty line, and killers won’t care anyway.

I suppose you could argue it’s an incremental improvement, but when we saw cops get nationwide carry recogniton with LEOSA, how many made inviting those of us footing the bill to sit at their table a priority?

All in the Family

Crumbley’s defense attorney, meanwhile, argued that Crumbley had shown signs of severe mental illness years prior to the shooting, and neither his parents nor school officials did anything to help him. They also argued that he has the potential to be rehabilitated, saying he has participated in therapy every day and is taking medication by his own choice. [More]

Sorry, but what he did is so twisted and evil I’d recommend conclusive proof that he can be trusted with a gun before opening that cage.

Imams Demand Action

Republicans have reacted with prayers following the Perry school shooting but no proposals to change gun laws. [More]

Whereas Democrats reacted before the facts were known by demanding “universal background checks,” “assault weapon” and magazine bans, and a host of other irrelevant infringements that wouldn’t have made a damn bit of difference– the loser even used a Biden-approved pump-action Fudd gun.

I wonder what the owners of Al Jazeera would do with such a troubled teenager in their country

Or with Karine Jean Pierre, for that matter…

Perry High School Shooting

Active shooting confirmed at Iowa high school on the first day after winter break [More]

NBC News made sure to tie it in with “the Iowa caucuses, which will kick off the 2024 presidential Republican primary process.”

And yes, of course:

This is new and breaking. Check back here for updates.

UPDATES

  • Waiting on live newscast from authorities to begin…
  • Sheriff gave limited details. Police arrived within seven minutes. The situation is over. They can’t yet say how many inuries but there were “multiple.” They know who the shooter was but aren’t saying yet. They’ll be giving an update this afternoon. They said the White House is monitoring the situation (can’t let a crisis go to waste), and they made a point of quoting blood dancer Kris Brown of Brady.
  • CNN reports “The shooter in the Perry High school shooting is dead, according to law enforcement official.”
  • [UPDATE: SHOOTER TIKTOK HAD PRIDE FLAG]
  • Look what “Iowa armed teachers” turns up. Some of the links say the problem is finding an insurance carrier, which the legislature has the power to fix if the companies want to do business in the state.
